A car battery has an emf of 12 V and an internal resistance of 9.5 X10-3.

When the battery is used to start a car the current through the battery is 420 A. (a) Calculate the voltage across the terminals of the battery, when the current through the battery is 420 A. (b) The copper cable connecting the starter motor to the battery has a length of 0.75m and cross-sectional area of 7.9 X10-5 m2. The resistance of the cable is 1.6 X10-3 . Calculate the resistivity of the copper giving an appropriate unit.

a. Find the current going out of the power supply b. How many Joules per second of energy is the power supply giving out? c. Find the current going through the 75 light bulb. d. Find the current going through the 50 light bulbs (hint: its the same, why?). e. Order the light bulbs in terms of brightness f. If they were all wired in parallel, order them in terms of brightness

(a) Calculate the total resistance between terminals A and B. A potential difference is applied between the two terminals, A and B, and the power dissipated in each of the 400 resistors is 1.0 W. (i) Calculate the potential difference across the 400 resistors. (ii) Calculate the current through the 25 resistor. (iii) Calculate the potential difference applied to terminals A and B.
