Lilly Montes March 23, 2012 ISS Project Reflection

1. Please provide a detailed summary describing the artifact and its purpose.

The project that I am reflecting on is the ISS project which stands for Internet Safety Share. The purpose of this project was to go out and share what Internet Safety is. Internet safety is basically how to be safe online and to handle a situation where you encounter a child predator. In this project my group and I had to make a Prezi that has tips on how to be safe online. My group decided that it would be a great idea to go out and present this Prezi to 6th grade classes. We thought that they are the ones that are most affected because that is the time where they are introduced to the online social networks. The groups that we presented to were Mr. Salazars, Mrs. Valadezs, Mr. Carbonells, and Ms. Mendezs classes. Along with the presentation we made bookmarks with tips on how to be safe online. My group and I split up into each of the classrooms.

2. Identify and list the GLPO(s) that were satisfied in completing this artifact. In addition, please explain how these GLPO(s) were met by specifically referring to the examples or evidence from the artifact. (Please specifically refer to the indicators within each domain, and do not simply state that you Took Action or Communicated Ideas.) There were many GLPOS that were satisfied in the completion of this artifact. One of the GLPOS was that I took action with this ISS project. I took action by going to a 6 th grade class and presenting the Prezi that had safety tips and the consequences of getting involved with an online crime (e.g. cyber bullying). Another GLPO that was satisfied was that I communicated ideas. I communicated ideas through a technology and media (Prezi) to communicate with diverse audiences (6th grade classes). Another GLPO that was satisfied was recognizing perspectives. I recognized perspectives by stating that I have a perspective on the issue of online bullying and safety. I also described how it affects other people that have been through online bullying through videos.

3. What skills and concepts were learned in completing this artifact and how have these affected your future?

There were many skills that I learned during the completion of this artifact. One of them was how to present in front of a live classroom. I had to be speaking clearly and loud enough for the whole class to here. Another skill that I learned was to be able to explain on the things that were on the Prezi instead of relying on the Prezi the whole time. Another skill that I learned was being able to share my ideas through the Prezi. There are many concepts that I learned during the completion of this artifact. One of the concepts that I learned was that kids that cyber bully other kids can be charged as adults. These skills and concepts will affect my future by giving me the presenting skills I will be able to use in when Im in college. Meaning when my future professor requires that I present in front of the class or to a group of people, I will be prepared. By presenting in front of 6th grade classes I was able to test my skills of presenting.

4. Looking back on the completion of this artifact, what might you do differently if you were able to recreate or revise the final product? Looking back on the completion of this artifact I would do some things differently if I were able to revise the final product. One of the things that I would do differently is that I would have contributed more to the Prezi. Another thing that I would have done would be that I would have contributed more statistics into the Prezi. I think that with more statistics the 6 th graders would be shocked that a lot of kids out there are affected by cyber bullying. Another thing that I would have done would be to talk more during our presentation to the 6 th graders. I feel like I didnt really explain myself enough. Another thing I would have done would be that I didnt talk enough and that Carolina (my partner) talked more than I did.
