Graduate Assistant Alternative Breaks The Graduate Assistant manages programmatic efforts in the Alternative Break (AB) Program;

; assists undergraduate AB student coordinators with overall program development and implementation; coordinates AB program evaluation. Works to strengthen and develop this critical program area in the Volunteer Center. Key Responsibilities include: Oversee and manage the daytoday operation of the Alternative Break Program Assist with planning and implementation of pretrip educational activities Assist with the overall planning and development of the Alternative Breaks Provide leadership and mentoring to Alternative Break Coordinators Meet with program staff regularly to maintain effective communication Provide leadership with fundraising efforts Assist Director with recruitment of staff and faculty advisors Facilitate the planning of the Alternative Break Recognition event Participate in Departmental events as needed Work with Director and AB Coordinators to develop reports and other communications detailing program accomplishments Specific Goals for 2012 2013 Organize and facilitate training programs for staff Set goals for program and self with Director; meet with Director to revisit goals twice per semester Develop facilitation/reflection training session for AB Coordinators Develop technical assistance opportunities, i.e., facilitation training session; nutrition, CPR, etc Develop a fundraising plan for program that is implemented by all coordinators Develop and maintain Graduate Assistant Alternative Break information binder Evaluation Targets: Successful completion of student coordinator goals and implementation of programs Deliver formalize programming in the following areas across ABs: participant recruitment and selection; pretrip educational programming; and reflection activities One facultyled educational component conducted for each trip Achieve 80% of fundraising target Compensation: $14 per hour for 20 hours a week
