    ABANDONING SHIP
    CHECKLIST
    Do not abandon the ship hastily! More lives have been lost due to hasty launching of lifeboats or to persons falling into the sea in panic, than by staying on board. The ship is the safest refuge! Do not abandon it before making sure it cannot be saved or rescue is at hand!
