Optimization studies on Multi- Responses in Milling of Composites under various cutting conditions

Optimization of cutting parameters is valuable in terms of providing high precision and efficient machining. Optimization of machining parameters for improving the machining efficiency is become important for precision and efficient machining. The strategy is to

minimize the production time and cost by optimizing feed per tooth, speed, width of cut, depth of cut and tool diameter by satisfying all the constraints such as maximum machine power, maximum cutting force, maximum machining speed, feed rate, tool life and required surface roughness. The optimal End milling cutter diameter and radial depth of cut (step over) are also the key issues for minimization of total production cost. Therefore, in this paper an attempt has been made to include all major parameters such as feed per tooth, speed, width of cut (Step-over) and depth of cut along with diameter of tool for minimising the time and production cost during milling. Machining of composite materials is difficult to carry out due to the anisotropic and nonhomogeneous structure of composites and to the high abrasiveness of their reinforcing constituents. This typically results in damage being introduced into the work piece and in very rapid wear development in the cutting tool. Conventional machining processes such as turning, drilling or milling can be applied to composite materials, provided proper tool design and operating conditions are adopted. Machining of composite materials is an important and current topic in modern researches on manufacturing processes. In this present work we have adopted Milling for machining the composite material.
