    Refers to the class of LP problem that involve that most efficient assignment of People to projects Salespeople to territories Contracts to bidders Jobs to machine etc. The objective is most often to minimize total cost or total time of performing the task at hand. Characteristics of assignment problem: Only one job or worker is assigned to one machine or project Each assignment problem has associated with it a table or matrix. Generally the rows contain the object or people we wish to assign and the columns comprise the task or things we want them assign to. The number in the table are the cost associated with each particular assigment.
