Abraham

12:1
Now the Lord said to ___________go from
your__________,your___________and
your__________________________ to the ?

Country- Place that is familiar (ex. Time in France)

Kindred – People that are familiar and loved
Father’s House- comfort, security, safety, familiarity
(ex. My mom’s house)

Go Where? He doesn’t tell Him where, but gives him an

incredible promise.

*Would you follow the Lord – Even if he doesn’t tell you

where He is ultimately leading you? (speaking to someone
about Him. “I don’t know what I am going to say” – The
Lord may want you to step out before He tells you what
to say.

12:2
The promise depends on obedience!!
…. And I will make you a great nation
11:30 – Now Sarah was barren. She had no children.

How was Abraham going to become a great nation.

God was promising something that only God could do!

What is it that you hope to
receive/achieve/experience/get out of or in life?

God promised Abraham that he would have/become…..

…a great nation
…be blessed
…a great name
…be a blessing
…God would show favor to those who favored Abraham.
…God would curse…
…In Abraham all the families of the earth will be
blessed- Promise fulfilled through the Messiah

What did Abraham do? HE WENT

God forbid that He not go! How old was he?______

Did he use that as an excuse?

Did the promise look promising? Why not? Why?

Imagine this conversation:

Abraham: “I’m going to be a great nation!”
“Really, how many children do you have?”
“How old are you?”
“Where do you live?”
“Where are you going?”
“Why?”
Did Abraham have all of the answers?

What made him usable? The same thing that made Noah
“usable” - They both obeyed!

Gen 12:4-9
To your offspring-

Did Abraham have any offspring? (at that time Sarai was
barren -) So what was Abraham’s response?

He built an offering to the Lord who had appreared to

Him.
• God had “in so many words” told Abraham to look
beyond what was, to see what would be…
• Faith –
• How did he know what would be?

Who was in the land at that time?________________

Abraham was staring straight into the face of all kinds of
reasons that what God had promised was not going to
happen!......But God said!!!!!

We have to stand on what God says. We have to hear

Him speak to us!!!

Hebrews 11

By Faith…..
Withouth Faith it is impossible to please God…

What has God been speaking to you about. What is He

asking you to believe? To do? To go?
