Problem One:
Water contained in a piston-cylinder assembly undergoes the following processes: The initial state is at 1000 kPa and 400oC. Heat is removed allowing the piston to fall down until water turns to saturated vapor. At this point, the piston touches a set of stops. Upon further cooling the water temperature reaches 150oC. Determine: (a) The specific work for the overall processes (w13) in kJ/kg (b) The specific heat transfer (q13) in kJ/kg for the overall processes (c) Plot the P-v diagram showing the involved processes (d) Plot the specific work and specific heat transfer if T1 is changed between 200-600oC. (Hint: Repeat the solution by finding work and hear transfer for each T1). Explain your final graph results.

Problem Two:
An air compressor takes in air through an inlet port of 20 cm at 100 kPa, 17C, 400 m/s and delivers it at 1 MPa, 327C to a constant-pressure cooler, which it exits at 27C. Using the "Exact Analysis" and assuming that air can be treated as ideal gas, you are asked to find: (a) The compressor power in kW (b) The rate of heat transfer in the cooler in kW.
