Arabic is written in the Arabic alphabet. There are many different ways of writing this in Roman characters.

This is called a "transliteration." The table below shows the Arabic alphabet and a number of different translieration systems. This is why you see Arabic words spelled in so many different ways. As an example, here are different ways you might see the title of the 1st chapter of the Qurn transliterated: sra al-ftiha, srat al-ftiha, srat al-ftihah, sratu-l-ftiha, sura al-fatiha, suurat al-faatiHa, and many more, as you can see from the tranliteration table below.
