1 Model tuning Model tuning is typically done at the beginning of the project in order to defin e the propagation model that will be used by the planning tool. The purpose of model tuning is to increase the accuracy, thus the confidence lev el, of a terrain based planning tool (e.g. NetACT Planner) by tuning how the pro gression of the radio waves is modelled in relation to the morphographic classif ication used in the digital maps. In order to obtain an accurate propagation mod el, the data collected from the continuous wave measurements will be used as a r eference for tuning the propagation model variables. 3.1.1 Measurement campaign preparation Scope Select morphographic types to be tuned Find representative locations for field drive test measurements Find a suitable location for the carrier wave transmitter Outline the field drive test routes Inputs Area types to be tuned Deliverables The model tuning & measurement concept including method of directing the antenna properly, antenna down tilt, antenna type Test site locations Outlines for field drive test routes 3.1.2 Scope Inputs Field drive test measurement results Model Tuning Model tuning and implementation into the planning tool (e.g. NetAct Planner).
