Puttalam Coal Power Project Phase II

VACANCIES
Ceylon Electricity Board intends to employ Engineers, Superintendents and Interpreters on contract basis for the Puttalam Coal Power Project (PCPP) Phase II. Applications are invited from citizens of Sri Lanka having the following qualifications and experience. 1. Electrical Engineers (4 Vacancies) and Mechanical Engineers (5 Vacancies) 1.1 Duties: The incumbent should provide relevant technical inputs in the area of electrical / mechanical engineering and assist the Project Director, PCPP Phase II in carrying out the project related activities. 1.2 Qualifications and Experience:

Electrical Engineers - Bachelors Degree in the field of Engineering specialized in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka. Mechanical Engineers - Bachelors Degree in the field of Engineering specialized in Mechanical /Chemical / Material Engineering from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka. Corporate Membership of a recognized professional institution will be an added advantage. High level of proficiency in written and spoken English. Ability to speak Chinese will be an added advantage.

1.3 Remuneration: Salary is negotiable, based on the candidates qualification and experience and will be subject to the provisions of the Management Services Circular No. 33 of the Ministry of Finance and Planning dated 05.04.2007.

2. Electrical Superintendents (3 Vacancies), Mechanical Superintendents (7 Vacancies) and Civil Superintendents (2 Vacancies)
2.1 Duties: The incumbent should provide relevant technical inputs in the area of Electrical / Mechanical /Civil engineering and assist relevant project engineers in carrying out the project related activities. 2.2 Qualifications and Experience:

National certificate of Technology in field of Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering with 10 years experience in relevant field OR National Diploma in Technology in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering with experience in relevant field OR Equivalent qualification with relevant
experience Computer literacy and ability to speak Chinese will be an added advantage

2.3 Remuneration: Salary is negotiable.

3. Chinese English Interpreters (2 Vacancies)

3.1 Duties:

The incumbent should assist project staff in translating Chinese to English and vice versa in their daily activities such as at meetings, at walked-down etc. 2.2 Qualifications:

Certificate course in Chinese Language and Diploma in English OR sufficient knowledge of English and Chinese both written and spoken.

2.3 Remuneration: Salary is negotiable.

Mode of Selection: Selection would be by an interview. Age limit: Below 50 years. This maximum age limit will not be applicable for those who are already confirmed in the Public Service/Public Institutions. Persons above 50 years will be considered only on exceptional grounds when technically competent people below 50 years of age are not found at the interview. The post applied should be marked on the top left hand corner of the envelope. Terms and Conditions of Service: The appointment will be on contract basis for a two (02) year term. The contract may be extended for a further term depending on the requirement of the project. Other Benefits: 1. Those selected will be entitled to Employee Provident Fund (EPF) with Employees Contribution of 10% and Project Contribution of 15%. AND 2. Employees Trust Fund (ETF) contribution of 3% by the Project.
