Snood

Materials Thread Luster sheen, Black or your choice of color, About half a skein, about hundred meters, any color crochet thread size 50 -10 your choice, The rose will be larger with larger size thread. If you choose to use size ten thread it may affect the size of the snood, bear this in mind and adjust pattern accordingly. Or you can even use sewing thread in the snood and size 10 thread for the rose. Hook boye size 0 or 3.25mm and appropriate hook for the size thread you use for making rose Misc. 4mm beads, optional ( 34 beads ) 2 1/2 inch bone rings. 20 inches black or corresponding color elastic cord Abbreviations Ch = chain sl st = slip stitch dc = double crochet tr = treble crochet dtr = Double treble cl = cluster stitch st = stitch lp = loop sp = space tog = together rnd = round dec = decrease mc = main color cc = contrasting color ( ) = repeat between as indicated

sc = single crochet hdc = half double crochet p = picot sk = skip yo = wrap yarn over hook inc increase rep = repeat * Repeat from as indicated

Begin with headband working with the yarn and thread held together remember to always catch both yarn and thread in the stitch. work 12 sc in one of the bone rings sl st into 1st sc to join ch 1 turn, Row 1 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc ch 1 turn ( 2 sc ) Work in back lp of st only from this point on Row 2 2 sc in each of the next 2 sc, ch 1 turn, ( 4 sc ) Row 3 2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch 1 turn, ( 6 sc ) Row 4 2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch 1 turn, ( 8 sc ) Row 5 2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch 1 turn, ( 10 sc ) Row 6 1 sc in each of the next 10 sc, ch 1 turn, Rows 7 to 90 repeat row 6 Row 91 dec 1 st at the beginning of row sc in next 6 sc, dec 1 st at the end of the row. ( 8 sc ) Row 92 dec 1 st at the beginning of row sc in next 4 sc, dec 1 st at the end of the row. ( 6sc ) Row 93 dec 1 st at the beginning of row sc in next 2 sc, dec 1 st at the end of the row. ( 4 sc ) Row 94 dec 1 st at the beginning of row, dec 1 st at the end of the row. ( 2 sc ) Row 95 12 sc in the other bone ring, end off. Attach thread on the side of the headband at row 6. Row 1 ch 1 sc in same place, 1 sc in each row across the side to row 90, Ch 1 turn. ( 85 sc ) Row 2 Sc in 1st sc,* sk next 2 sc and 5 dc in next sc, ( shell made ) sk 2 sc and 1 sc in next sc * repeat from * to * across ending with a sc in last sc. ( 14 shells ) end off. Attach thread on the other side of the headband Repeat Row 1 and Row 2 on this side. end off If you so desire you can sew beads at the base of the shell ( where all 5 dc meet in the sc, ) This is optional. Would be easiest to do at this point though.

Snood Ch 31, sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each ch across. ch 1 turn, Row 1 sc in 1st sc, ch 4, (sk 2 sc dc in next sc, ch 5 ) 8 times ch 4 sk next 2 sc, sc in last sc, ch 1 turn, Row 2-5 sc in 1st sc, ch 4, ( dc in next dc, ch 5, ) 8 times, ch 4, sc in last sc, ch 1 turn, Row 6- 7 Repeat row 2, except you will ch 6 instead of 5 Row 8-9 Repeat row 2, except you will ch 7 instead of 5 Row 10 -11 Repeat row 2, except you will ch 8 instead of 5 Row 12 Repeat row 2, except you will ch 9 instead of 5 Row 13 - 14 Repeat row 2, except you will ch 8 instead of 5 Row 15 - 16 Repeat row 2, except you will ch 7 instead of 5 Row 17 - 18 Repeat row 2, except you will ch 6 instead of 5 Row 18 Repeat row 2, Row 19 Repeat row 2, except you will ch 4 instead of 5 Row 20 Repeat row 2 except you will ch 3 instead of 5 Row 21 Repeat row 2, except you will ch 2 instead of 5 Row 22 Repeat row 2, except you will ch 1 instead of 5 Now Fold the elastic cord in half, sc in next sc crocheting through the loop of the folded elastic (This securely attaches the elastic without a knot and you will work over two strands of elastic which will make this good and strong.) working over both strands of elastic sc in each st across, sc in each st along the side sc in each st across the top sc in each st along the other side. sl st into beginning sc.draw elastic up till you have the desired size opening. It doesn't have to be to snug as the head band will keep it from falling off. tie two pieces of elastic together with a secure knot such as a square knot, trim off excess leaving enough to weave in to hide ends. Sew snood to headband by sewing two sc at the beginning of row 1 of snood, to bottom 2 sc on the bone ring. Be sure right side is facing out. end off, sew two sc at the end of row 1 of snood, to bottom 2 sc on the bone ring at opposite end of head band, again make sure right side is facing out. .end off Finishing sew rose onto the bone ring, If you so desire sew 8 beads across the top of snood, spaced evenly apart. Rose The rose is made with same crochet thread you used through out the rest of the snood to tie it all together. use the proper size hook to the proper size thread. Rnd. 1 Ch 6 sl st to form ring, 12 sc in ring sl st into 1st sc Rnd. 2 ch 1 sc in 1st sc, * ch 4 sk next sc, sc in next sc* repeat from * to * 5 more times ending with sl st in 1st sc ( 6 ch 4 lps ) Rnd. 3 sl st into ch 4 lp, ch 1, * 1 sc, 5 dc, 1 sc all in the same lp.* repeat from * to * in each lp around, ending with sl st into 1st sc, ( six petals) Rnd. 4 working behind the petals just finished work a sc in sc that forms the petal joining *ch 5 sc in next sc joining * repeat from * to * 5 more times ending with sl st in 1st sc ( 6 ch 5 lps behind first set of petals.) Rnd. 5 sl st into ch 5 lp, ch 1, * 1 sc, 7 dc, 1 sc all in the same lp.* repeat from * to * in each lp around, ending with sl st into 1st sc, (six petals) Rnd. 6 working behind the petals just finished work a sc in sc that forms the petal joining. *ch 6, sc in next sc joining * repeat from * to * 7 more times ending with sl st in 1st sc ( 6 ch 6 lps behind next set of petals.) Rnd. 7 sl st into ch lp, ch 1, * 1 sc, 9 dc, 1 sc all in the same lp.* repeat from * to * in each lp around, ending with sl st into 1st sc, (six petals) end off.
