Letter from the Editor

walked into Unity over three years ago. During this time Ive met a lot of wonderful people, and said good-bye to a few. Ive seen the number and variety of programs that we offer increase, and Ive even taken part in a few! And Ive even seen our church itself grow when we built the door and started to use the offices next door! This newsletter has also seen plenty of change. We have had the benefit of having many wonderful writers share their viewpoints and humour with us. Various editors have left their stamp on both the content and the design. And we have gone from black and white to colour and back again. Well, it is time for this newsletter to undergo another change. After thinking long and hard I have decided

that it is time for me to step down as editor of the Inner Spark. I have enjoyed my time creating this newsletter and Ive worked with some great people since the May/June 2010 issue. But it is time to hand over the reins to another editor who can bring their vision and enthusiasm to the job; who can create an even greater newsletter for you.

Rose, and now Megan for your help and support. I couldnt have done it without you. Thanks, too, to all of the contributors for the time and effort they put in to bringing this newsletter, and our church, to life through their words; and to Pat Moauro for taking over designing the layout for the newsletter. You definitely made my life easier! And finally, thank you to all of you who have read this newsletter during the past two years. It is your support that makes Unity the wonderful place it is! - Cathy NOTE: Effective with the September/ October issue, Pat Moauro will assume the Editors duties, in addition to layout and design. Dan Thrasher will be Assistant Editor. - PM

Mary Bot, our Unity Gardener, quietly and efficiently keeps our flower garden and grounds neat and attractive. Thank you, Mary! You are appreciated! and Kitchen afterwards. Then there are the times when team members step in for one another. This is a very dedicated team that makes sure we have coffee and tea each week. They put out whatever food is brought in by our congregation. Thanks to all of those who provide food for our fellowship. The kitchen team consists of its leaders Barb Zarnke and Mary Locke. On their team is Patty Keffer, Suzanne Robinson, Marilyn and Gary Moore, Mary Morris and Neil Cattermole, Sylvia van der Hoek, Michelle Mercer, Teresa Van Diepen, Mike McDougall, Lola Hache and Mary Bot. Thanks to all of you for sharing your gift of time and talents with us.

In July, we are appreciating our Cleaners and Gardener

Many, perhaps, are unaware of those dedicated persons who come into the church weekly to clean our space. They vacuum, wash floors, clean the washrooms, kitchen, offices, windows, and clear the garbage. These beautiful beings are Jack and Teresa Van Diepen and Mary Locke. The Van Diepens have been doing this work for years and Mary is newer to the team. We want them to know how their work does make a huge difference to our church home and all who use our space. We are so very grateful! Thanks Jack, Teresa and Mary. If you enjoy cleaning and making things shine; would enjoy

think prosperity is what makes your heart sing. For you, is that a deeper relationship with God, more money, a new partner, a better relationship, a new home, new job, a summer holiday? Whatever it is you can achieve it. Everything begins in consciousness and prayer is a good place to start. In the book, How to Pray Without Talking to God, Rev. Linda MartellaWhitsett writes, the issue has never been whether prayer is answeredhow we live is the issue and the answer. We are the answer to our prayers as we realize prayer is not a plea for a particular outcome but a calling upon ourselves to realize what we are to be in a circumstance.

A big part of prosperity, I believe, is gratitude. I wrote about that in our last issue. Suffice to say, this summer lets be grateful for everything: for the hot summer days, the crowded, loud and energetic festivals of which London has an abundance; the family get-togethers, and our Unity church too.

Here are the dates: This church offers a God of love, Thursday July 5, 1 - 3:30 p.m. not judgment. We offer messages of Saturday July 14, 9:30 - noon acceptance and encourage you to let July 19 1-3:30 p.m. and 6 - 8:30 p.m. go of fears that block your growth. Spirit Matters

... Victoria Withenshaw, Bookstore Manager

Finding the energy to write for our next newsletter was eluding me. All I could reflect on was the past two weeks. Then I remembered the prayers that were held for my family and that two of my Unity friends shared their experience of Mums service with me. learned that the colour of an orb comes from the deceased at the time of death. Pink means loving and openness. Then from the book, How Far to Heaven? by Clara Curtis, this poem spoke to me: Forever and always, inside, all around, Heaven is everywhere heaven is found. Listen with glad ears; see with loves eyes, Give wings to your heart and cherish the prize! Forever and always we dance to the sound, For heaven is everywhere heaven is found. This summer, watch for Karen Druckers newest release The Call. Be safe and enjoy the warm weather because it wont last as long as the cold weather will.

Pink orb at funeral seen as a message of hope, healing

Victoria Withenshaw Bookstore Manager

JULY already?! Why does May to September go by faster than October to May? Some of you may already know that my mums 100th birthday was May 12th and she made her transition on May 18th. I would like to send my heart-felt gratitude to everyone who held us in prayer and attended her funeral. Your Energy and knowing Mum had met her goal of receiving her congratulations from The Queen and was in a much better realm, kept me at peace.

A pink orb was seen preceding the family into the chapel and rested at the altar where her cremated ashes lay. Then, during the service, the outlines of three spirits were seen next to my sister and me at the front pew. I am so grateful for those messengers of Mums spirit. I went to the shelves of our Bookstore and found Orbs; Their mission and messages of hope by Heinemann and Heinemann. As I reviewed the pages, this jumped out: Is it possible that these Spirit Beings are present because they actually help with the healing? Then I googled pink orb and

Ways to Speak of God

God is Spirit, the loving source of all that is. God is the one power, all good, everywhere present, all wisdom. God is divine energy, continually creating, expressing and sustaining all creation. In God, we live and move and have our being. In Unity, some other ways we speak of God are Life, Light, Love, Substance, Principle, Law and Universal Mind.

And there are those who have little and give it all. They are the believers in life and the bounty of life, and their coffer is never empty. - Kahlil Gibran

Award-winning author Bev Irwin uses Unity principles

Award-winning author Bev Irwin says Unity principles have helped her in her writing and in her life. They have given me inner peace, Bev says about the Unity principles and ideas she has been learning and practicing since first being introduced to Unity of London by Claudette Foy in 2000. Ive learned not to be judgmental. A Registered nurse at Vanier Childrens Services since October 2006, Bev has nurtured and developed a love for writing since she first started to write poetry and short stories as a child. In the 1990s when she broke her right hand while trying to get a horse on a trailer, she had six months off her nursing job. That gave her the time she needed to get serious about her fiction writing, starting with a Harlequin Romance and books for children. Her discipline and persistence in writing consistently at her computer in between her regular work as a nurse are starting to show positive results. Her years of writing have produced a prodigious flow of books being published and coming out this year. She won second place for two of her early novels, When Hearts Collide (written under a pen name, Kendra James) and Family Secrets in the Gateway to the Best contest. She also won second place in the TARA (another book writing contest) for Missing Clayton, a suspense novel for women, and for Ghostly Justice, a youth novel, published this year. In early June, Bev was seated at a table at Chapters on Wellington Road South, signing copies of her book, Ghostly Justice. She sold 20

copies in one evening. Later, she also signed copies of her book at Coles and Chapters at Masonville. Bev is looking forward to seeing three more of her novels being released this year Missing Clayton on July 28, Without Consent, October 28, and In My Fathers Footsteps by the end of the year. As she continues to tap out novels on her computer, Bev has some other goals. I see myself travelling to Tuscany and France, she muses. Oh yes, shes also looking for that special man to travel with. Judging from her success to date, she will undoubtedly accomplish her other goals. - Pat Moauro

Love: therefore, I can meet with nothing but the expressions of Divine Love. Nothing ever takes place but the Self-expressing of Divine Love. All this is true now. This is the actual case, the actual state of affairs. I do not have to try to bring this about, but I observe it already in being now.

As we pray for the understanding of Divine Love and meditate on it daily, miracles begin to unfold in great and wondrous ways, not only in our personal lives, but also within our Unity community.

have used this treatment prayer on a regular basis. As I continue to pray this prayer, I have experienced such peace and love in my heart for others, for myself, for my life. Use this affirmative prayer to brighten up your day do it every day for awhile and see how you feel! My soul is filled with Divine Love. I am surrounded by Divine Love. I radiate Love and Peace to the whole world. I have conscious Divine Love. God is Love, and there is nothing in existence but God and His selfexpression. All men are expressions of Divine

Divine Love is the actual nature of Being. There is only Divine Love, and I know this. I understand perfectly what Divine Love is. I have conscious realization of Divine Love. The Love of God is in me for all humanity, I am a lamp of God, radiating Divine Love to all whom I meet, to all whom I think of. I forgive everything that can possibly need forgiveness positively everything. Divine Love fills my heart, and all is well. I now radiate Love to the whole universe, excluding no one. I experience Divine Love. I demonstrate Divine Love. I thank God for this. - Emmet Fox
