Aspen OLI 2006.

5 Readme File

The presence of this Readme file indicates that Aspen OLI 2006.5 has been partially installed. This document provides background information on the licensing structure, the installation process and new features in Aspen OLI 2006.5.

Licensing Structure
Aspen OLI 2006.5 consists of 1 2 Aspen OLI Interface provided by AspenTech. The interface is included with Aspen Plus and Aspen Properties and is provided without additional license. OLI Alliance Suite for Aspen OLI licensed by OLI Systems.

Existing customers of Aspen OLI are entitled to the OLI license automatically. However, new customers of Aspen OLI 2006.5 will need to sign a contract with OLI Systems. OLI Systems will provide the necessary software license manager, Hardlock security key and serial number required to access the OLI Alliance Suite for Aspen OLI.

Software Installation
Installation of Aspen OLI requires these steps: 1 Contact OLI Systems to obtain the OLI Hardlock security key, serial number, and password for installing the OLI Alliance Suite as part of the continued licensing of Aspen OLI. Install the Aspen OLI Interface, a sub-feature of the AES Installation. When this installation is complete, you will have installed all of the components required within the Aspen framework to support the OLI Engine. Next, install the OLI Alliance Suite for Aspen OLI 2006.5 in order to complete the installation of Aspen OLI 2006.5. A file named OLI Alliance Suite for Aspen OLI 2006.5.1.0.1.exe will be delivered when the Aspen OLI Interface is installed (e.g., to C:\Program Files\AspenTech\Aspen OLI Interface 2006.5). This is a self-extracting script that installs the components supplied by OLI in a directory of your choosing (or the default location C:\Program Files\OLI Systems\Alliance Suites\Aspen OLI 2006.5). During the installation, you will be asked to supply the serial number obtained in step 1. Install the OLI alliance files by Opening the Aspen Plus 2006.5 Simulation Engine window

Change directory to the location where the OLI alliance suite was installed in step 3 and go to the OLI Engine subdirectory (e.g., C:\Program Files\AspenTech\Aspen OLI Interface 2006.5\OLI Engine). Type install.bat

Finally, you will need to use the OLI Hardlock security key and serial number obtained in step 1 to enable OLIs license manager.

Running Aspen OLI 2006.5

Once Aspen OLI 2006.5 has been installed, creating and running simulations involves essentially the same steps as earlier versions. OLI released a new tool named Chemistry Wizard with Aspen OLI 2004. Chemistry Wizard is used to prepare OLI chemistry model files and an Aspen Plus .bkp file that contains all of the component and property specifications required for your simulation. Chemistry Wizard is a replacement for OLIs earlier model setup tool named Chemistry Generator. The Chemistry Generator is still available with Aspen OLI 2006.5 but we encourage you to start using the Chemistry Wizard. Future versions of Aspen OLI may not include the Chemistry Generator. The .bkp file created by the Chemistry Wizard will work essentially the same as before in Aspen Plus. The following new features are available in Aspen OLI 2006.5: Latest OLI physical property databanks and calculation Engine (Version 7.0). Chemistry Wizard now supports saving and retrieving wizard case files (.cwa) so that existing Aspen OLI chemistry models created using Chemistry Wizard can be refined easily.

Features introduced in Aspen OLI 2004, continue to be available in Aspen OLI 2006.5: Aspen OLI has the capability to provide properties for petroleum fractions based on the pseudocomponent slate generated by the Aspen's Assay Data Analysis. Petroleum customers who use Aspen Properties physical-property models for most of the simulation and Aspen OLI for the electrolytes sections (for example, streams containing oil and brine) will benefit from consistent physical property model parameters for pseudocomponents. User-added unit operations editors for the Aspen Plus user interface are available for EFLASH and EFRAC (OLIs 4-phase flash and column models, respectively).

As before, Aspen OLI will be available in other AES products in addition to Aspen Plus (for example, ACM and AD).
