Instructional Specialist High School Math JOB GOAL:


To provide professional learning opportunities to C-FB staff members in order to improve the quality of instruction via coaching and staff development training. To facilitate the design and delivery of the High School Mathematics curriculum to maximize student learning got all students, especially those identified as at risk. To mentor instructional coaches, facilitators, and teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification Valid Teachers Certification Masters degree or advanced training in instruction preferred Special Knowledge/ Skills:

Ability to work effectively with principals, teachers, students, and community Experience coaching teachers in classroom settings including demonstrations, observation and providing formative feedback Ability to accelerate the learning of at risk students and teachers of at risk students Ability to conduct staff development Ability to develop curriculum and TEKS-based assessments Ability to analyze and interpret data to guide future instructional planning Experience in facilitating the application of emerging technologies in the classroom

Experience: Three years teaching experience in high school and/or middle school mathematics Extensive mathematics background

Mentoring instructional coaches, facilitators and teachers Providing formative feedback to teachers and principals regarding instructional practices Providing model teaching at the campus level Providing professional development in the area of mathematics in conjunction with district needs and those aligned with Best Practices in Mathematics Promoting the improvement of instruction through activities such as assisting teachers in

designing and presenting learning experiences for students Supporting improvement efforts through activities such as collaborating in the development and articulation of a common vision and ensuring continuous renewal of curriculum, policies and methods Diagnosing district, campus, and student achievement through state and local assessment data Providing instructional leadership for the implementation of the mathematics curriculum Demonstrating leadership skills at the campus level All other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: NA

Working Conditions: Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally as well as to effectively implement policy, procedures, and the use of data; coordinate district functions; maintain emotional control under stress. Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Frequent district and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Physical demands of preparing and delivering professional development sessions.
