At the 2003 ITUTelecom World exhibition held in Geneva,the Tokyo-based NEC Corporationdisplayed a conceptual $30,000 prototype of P-ISM. It is simply a ne w invention incomputer and it is associated withcommunication field. Surely this will have agreat impact on the computer field. In thisdevice you will find Blue tooth as the maininterconnecting device between differentperipherals. P-ISM is a gadget package includingfive functions: a pen-style cellular phonewith a handwr iting data input function,virtual keyboard, a very small projector,camera scanne r, and personal ID key withcashless pass function. P-ISMs areconnected with one another through short-range wireless technology. The whole set isalso connected to the Internet through thecellular phone function. This personalgadget in a min imalist pen style enables theultimate ubiquitous computing. Introduction: Communication Technology israpidly increasing in this modern world.Computer, as everybody knows, is the maincommunication machine used. Since thetime computer h as been invented scientistsand engineers have been trying making itmore and more compact. As a result wehave been able to enjoy the numerousfunctionalities prov ided by the computerswhether it is Home PCs or Laptops. Systemshave still been r educed so that they are usedin Mobiles I-pods and I-phones havereplaced the lapt ops to an extent. It is in thiscontext that Pen Computers come into spotlight. T hese are computers in the shape of different pens each having a function of itso wn and when combined together give usthe usage of a full-blown computer. It is a computer broken apart into pieces, each thesize of a pen. The screen and keyboar d areprojected onto surfaces. P-ISM: P-ISM means Pen-style PersonalNetworking Gadget Package. P-ISM is agadge package including five functions: Block diagram of P-ISM: CPU pen: The functionality of the CPU is doneby one of the pen. It is also known ascomput ing engine. Communication pen: P-ISMs are connected with oneanother through short-range wirelesstechnology. The whole set is also connectedto the Internet through the cellular phonefunction. They are connected through Tri-wireless modes (Bluetooth, 802.11B/G, andCellular ) which are made small and kept in asmall pen like device. Connectivity 802.11B/G andBluetooth: In fact, no-one expects much activityon 802.11n installations until the middle o f 2008. Rolling out 802.11n would mean abig upgrade for customers who already have full Wi-Fi coverage, and would be acomplex add-on to existing wired networks,for those who haven't. Bluetooth is widelyused because we can able to transfer data or make connections without wires. This isvery effective because we can able to connect whenever we need without havingwires. They are used at the frequency ban dof 2.4 GHz ISM (although they use differentaccess mechanisms). Bluetooth mechan ism is used for exchanging signal status informationbetween two devices. This te chniques havebeen developed that do not requirecommunication between the two dev ices(such as Bluetooths Adaptive FrequencyHopping), the most efficient andcomprehe nsive solution for the most seriousproblems can be accomplished by siliconvendor s. They can implement informationexchange capabilities within the designs of the Bluetooth. The circuit diagram for the802.11B/G is given below. It is nothing b utalso type of Bluetooth. Using thisconnectivity we can also connect it with the internet and can access it anywhere in theworld. LED Projector: The role of monitor is taken by LEDProjector which projects on the screen. Thesi ze of the projector is of A4 size. It has theapproximate resolution capacity of 1024 X768. Thus it is gives more clarity and goodpicture. Leave a Comment
