SCOPE
The standard specify the requirements for steel fibers used for reinforcement of concrete mortar. The standard do not specify the performance requirements of the fibers into the concrete mortar. - The standard covers straight or deformed fibers obtained from the following products - Cold drawn steel wire from rod manufactured according to EN 10016 part 1 and 2 part 1 and 4 or EN 10088 part 3; - Cold rolled strip in non alloy steel according to EN 10130 or in alloy steel according EN 10088 part 2; - Other types of product obtained from different manufacturing processes. In addition to the requirement of this standard the EN 10021 shall also apply. or or

Straight or deformed - The classification of the fiber: see table 1 - The tensile strength class: see table 5 - Type and mass of coating: if required Example 1 Steel fiber according to this standard from other manufacturing processes in non alloy high carbon steel with equivalent diameter 0,75 mm and length 50 mm, tensile strength class R3, deformed and zinc coated. Steel fiber XXXXXX C2 0,75 x 50 R3 deformed zinc coated Example 2 Steel fiber according to this standard from cold rolled strip in non alloy low carbon steel with equivalent diameter 0,60 mm and length 30 mm, tensile strength class R1, straight. Steel fiber XXXXXX B1 0,60 x 30 R1 straight Example 3 Steel fiber according to this standard from cold drawn wire in non alloy low carbon steel with equivalent diameter 0,75 mm and length 60 mm, tensile strength class R2, deformed. Steel fiber XXXXXX C2 0,75 x 60 R2 deformed

REQUIREMENTS Dimensions
Diameter The steel fiber are normally manufactured within the diameter range from 0,15 mm to 1,20 mm. The diameter tolerance are included in table 2.
6.1.2
Length The steel fiber are normally manufactured within the length range from 6 mm to 70 mm. The length tolerance are included in table 3.
6.1.3
6.2
Shape Unless specified at the time of enquiry and order the shape of the fiber is at the discretion of the manufacturer.

6.5.1
Surface properties
General Surface imperfection shall not lead to rejection of the fiber, when the mechanical properties conform to the requirements of this standard and the mixing properties in the cement or mortar are maintained. Rust, rolling scale and other type of coating shall not lead to rejection when each fiber is able to separate itself during mixing in the concrete or mortar and the when the mechanical and bend properties conform to the requirements of this standard
6.5.2
Coating When required the fiber may be supplied with zinc coating. The coating shall be followed by a passivation. In this case, the coating mass shall be according to table 6. Table 6 - Coating Mass

TESTS
General Starting products and steel fiber shall be delivered after the test listed in table 7. Table 7 Test planning
7.2
Sampling Sampling and preparation of the test pieces, for the mechanical test, shall be according to EN ISO 377. Sampling and preparation of test pieces for chemical analysis shall be according to ISO 14284.

Cast analysis Unless otherwise specified in the order, the choice of the method for determination of the chemical composition is left to the manufacturer of the steel. In case of claims, the chemical analysis shall be made by a Laboratory approved by both the manufacturer and purchaser. The method of the analysis shall be agreed by manufacture and purchaser and shall be, as far as possible, selected from CEN CR 10261 Tensile test The tensile test shall be made according to EN 10218-1 and EN 10002-1, on full section test pieces. The calculation of the tensile strength shall be made taking into account the actual section of the test piece. Reverse bend test The reverse bend test shall be made at 90 on a cylindrical mandrel having R = 2,5 mm. The test shall be made at ambient temperature according to EN 10218-1 for wire and UNI 5549 for strip. For products from other processes the bent test shall be agreed at the time of order. Dimensional control The finished fibre shall be inspected for the verification of equivalent diameter, length and mass Verification of the adherence and mass of the coating The verification of the adherence and the mass of the coating shall be according to EN 10244-2 Retest The retest shall be made according to EN 10021.
