Situation

DAGUPAN CITY JAIL is more or less 5 kilometers northeast from the city proper. It is bounded by the municipalities of the 4th District of Pangasinan namely, Mangaldan and San Jacinto to the east, San Fabian and La Union to the North. It has a land area of 3,000 square meters and fortified with 12 feet perimeter walls. The jail building has a dimension of 25.70 by 14.29 or an area of 367.25 sq meters.

Support from LGU The amount of P 100,000 was allocated by the LGU for the use of the jail annually 10 sacks of rice subsidy for inmates monthly P500.00 per personnel as additional compensation allowance monthly Major Accomplishment No escape incident/untoward disturbances Transfer of 25 Insular Prisonersto BUCOR, Muntinlupa City and one (1) prisoner to Correctional Institute for Women in Mandaluyong City; Coordination with the City Health Office in relation to the prevention of dengue resulted to the following: 1.Periodic fumigation of jail facilities and premises to eradicate dengue-causing mosquitoes 2. Ocular and technical inspection of the jail facilities i.e. kitchen area, infirmary, water and water facilities prior to issuance of sanitary health permit 3. Physical and laboratory examination of five (5) food handlers; constant coordination with the City Health Office was ensured to monitor that the jail premises is in accordance with acceptable standards and that recommended management/ treatment will be jointly given attention. Members of Knights of Columbus distributed free vitamins and feminine care products to inmates 2. Members of Mary Immaculate Blessed Virgin Mary Circle of the Annunciation of the Lord Parish donated Spygmomanometer for to use of inmates. 3. Philippine Mustard Seeds (Korean Missionaries) conducted medical and dental mission for inmates. Distribution of free medicines , consultations, acupunture and ventusa or buhang were rendered to inmates during the said activity. 4. Rotary Club , Innerwheel Club of Dagupan East and 103 Barber shop assisted this jail in relation to Gupit Buhok para Guimaras. Complete Haircutting Kit was eventually donated for the use of inmates. 5. Innerwheel Club of Dagupan donated two(2) basketball and two(2) chess boards for use of inmates. 6. Rehabilitation of the jail's basketball court, i.e, replacement and repainting of the wooden boards, nets and rings. Revival of the Paper Mache Livelihood Program of the inmates which is the creation of decorative flower pots & bases out of recycled old telephone directories & news papers. Institutionalized the conduct of symposium among inmates monthly which was participated by inmates representatives for immediate resolution of their problems.

Future Plans to Accomplish Construction of additional cells with the support of LGU. Full rehabilitation of the jail's kitchen and construction of lavatory for inmates' use. Best Practices Strong linkages with LGU, private entities and religious groups for the implementation of various rehabilitation programs. Continuous transfer of insular prisoner to National Penitentiary.
