MINISTRY PHILOSOPHY I love teaching from the Bible and sharing insights into the Word of God. My primary goal is to establish a small group Bible study in which participants can learn to share the Gospel message and their personal testimony with friends and loved ones whose health has been afflicted by disease or disability. People who are afflicted with disease or life threatening illnesses are no less the image of God than the able bodied. Yet many who find themselves in that situation fall into a feeling of hopelessness and despair. The Bible is filled with encouragement and comfort for those who would hear. All people experience times of tribulation. I wish to bring the comfort of Christ to all who find themselves without hope knowing that He has overcome the world. I am convinced that no matter how desperate lifes challenges may be, in Jesus Christ there is always solid reason to be optimistic. PERSONAL BACKGROUND CONVERSION AND CALLING: I attended a small church in Southern California and one day during a youth activity in 1967, my youth Pastor led me in a prayer of confession and I asked Jesus to be the Lord of my life. I became very active in the church and by the time I graduated from high school I was recognized as one of the youth leaders.

I drifted away when I went off to college and drifted farther away from God after graduation. Years went by where I devoted all my attention to my career and my own needs. Eventually my 4 year old daughter asked me if I would take her to Sunday school someday. I believe this was the Holy Spirit bringing me back. Eventually, my wife wanted to learn about Jesus. We were both baptized later that year (2000). Since that time I have developed a real hunger for Gods Word and an overwhelming desire to truly know Him and share Him with everyone I meet. When I reflect on this I praise God for His love for me and the fact that He would not abandon me. I feel the Lord is leading me into a teaching ministry. A life-long struggle with a bone and joint disease has made the issue of suffering very personal to me. I feel called to a teaching ministry focusing on the specific needs of the disabled. MARRIAGE/SPOUSE AND CHILDREN: While working in Jakarta in 1985 I met a beautiful young woman, Sarisah, who eventually became my wife. When we first met neither of us could speak the others language. We started seeing each other with the intent to learn the others language. Our conversations during the first few weeks of dating made heavy use of language dictionaries. During that time I fell deeply in love with her and asked her to be my wife. We recently celebrated our 26th anniversary. We have three children Thomas (b. 1986), Harry (b. 1988), and Kimberly (b. 1991).

INTERESTS: My personal interests include reading history, biographies, and the Bible. My wife and I also enjoy traveling to new places. SPIRITUAL GIFTS AND STRENGTHS My greatest spiritual strength is teaching the Word of God and relating it to the problems facing this postmodern world.
