This course covers both combinational (synchronous and asynchronous) logic circuits with emphasis on solving digital problems using hardwired structures of the complexity of medium and large-scale integration. Students are expected to construct combinational circuits. b. Prerequisites EE 002 ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS 1 ECE 001 ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND CIRCUITS None

Co-requisites c. Course Classification Required (Required/elective/ selected elective)

SPECIFIC GOALS FOR THE COURSE a. Course Objective The course aims to explain how digital circuit of large complexity can be built in a methodological way, starting from Boolean logic and applying a set of rigorous techniques. Numerous examples and case studies will be used to illustrate how the concepts presented in the lectures are applied in practice, and how the need to accommodate different practicallymotivated trade-offs can lead to alternative implementations. The students will apply their knowledge in the labs by building increasingly more complex digital logic circuits.

b. Course Outcomes By the end of the course, the students will be able to: 1. Design combinational and sequential logic circuits applying Boolean algebra and k-map as tool to simplify logic expressions. 2. Simulate and validate design logic circuits using simulation tool such as MultiSim, PCB Express and etc. 3. Develop combinational and sequential logic circuits meet the required functionality.
