AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE LAB

Aim : The aim of this lab is to impart the basic practical knowledge in the field of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. To study the operation and performance characteristics of DC Machines and to provide knowledge on operation of AC Machines, and to study the performance characteristics. Objectives : This Lab provides the basic knowledge on the electrical circuits like RL, RC and RLC series and parallel circuits. It gives the specific analysis to know the relationship between the LinePhase Voltage and Line-Phase Current in case of Star and Delta systems. This lab provides the practical knowledge on DC electrical machines. The work includes different types of tests on DC motors and generators to find their characteristics. This lab also provides experimental verification of the speed control methods of DC Motors. In this lab we work on the characteristics of asynchronous and synchronous motors, which further includes single phase and three phase induction motors, alternators, synchronous motors and transformers. Work done in this lab is useful in case of calculating the efficiency and regulation of different machines.

1.Electrical Measurements & Simulation LAB

Aim : This lab aim at calibrating different types of instruments and also to impart knowledge on the working of the different types of measuring instruments. To provide a platform for understanding the basic concepts of measurement & control of different electrical parameters and its applications to practical systems. To study the characteristics of Switching Devices and its Applications. This lab aims to provide a good understanding of the way electrical circuits work. It covers DC and AC circuit theorems and analysis; transient analysis, transfer functions, AC power calculations, and time and frequency representation of signals. Objective : This lab has the set ups like master unit for measurements, Power Factor meter, watt meters etc & bridges like Maxwells, Andersons bridge etc to find the values of unknown parameters like inductance, capacitance etc. This lab is also equipped with all other accessories to facilitate the students to perform their experiments to acquire better knowledge. It provides sound knowledge on the basic concepts of linear control theory and design of control system. In this lab one can determine the transfer functions for AC and DC Servomotors, Determination of transfer function of DC Generator and DC Motor. It provides knowledge on analog simulation of Type 0 and Type 1 systems, Stability analysis of linear systems. One can study the DC and AC position control systems, Stepper motor control system. It has Digital simulation of first and second order systems. It provides adequate knowledge in the time response of systems and steady state error analysis. It gives the basic knowledge in obtaining the open loop and closedloop frequency responses of systems. The power electronics lab prepares the students for the careers in power corporation; because the latest technologies are based on solid state devices. In this lab students are made aware with the basic and latest technologies in power electronics. This provides the basic practical knowledge on speed control of DC, AC and induction motors using switching devices, and application of power electronics in electrical drives and machines. Experiments are designed to illustrate basic electrical circuit theory concepts for linear and non-linear resistive circuits, simple dynamic circuits, and single-phase linear AC circuits.
