BASIC COURSE INFORMATION


WHAT YOU NEED TO DO BEFORE THE COURSE BEGINS
1. MSU Email Use Only. A. You will use ONLY your MSU email address to communicate with me and to send me your assignments. B. You will NOT use a personal, school. or business email address. C. All MSU students have been assigned an MSU email address. D. If you do not know your MSU email address, go to the MSU home page, http://www.moreheadstate.edu. 1. At the top of the page, click on Current Students and then select Eagle Express. 2. Select Help and Web Demos for MSU Accounts and then select Eagle Account Center. 3. Select Log In EAC to set up or activate Web Account (MSU email, etc.). 4. Enter your MSU ID and password and follow the instructions. 2. Syllabus. A. The course syllabus will be available on the Blackboard course site 1 day before the beginning of the course. B. Print off a copy of the syllabus and read it. 3. Text. A. You are required to purchase the text for this course: Charles C. Turner, et al., Introduction to American Government, th 6 ed., BVT Publishing, 2011. th B. You will be permitted to use only the 6 edition. You will not be permitted to use any other edition of the text. C. You are required to have purchased the text by the first day of class, Monday, June 4. D. Purchase the text onsite, by phone, or online at the MSU Bookstore, 606-783-2081 or http://www.bookstore.moreheadstate.edu E. If you order the text online from the MSU Bookstore, use the following instructions. 1) At the MSU Bookstore main page, http://www.bookstore.moreheadstate.edu, select the Buy Text Book link. 2) At the next page under Select Departments, scroll down, select GOVT, and then Continue to Get Course Materials. 3) Choose GOVT 141-301 William Green and then click on Continue to Get Course Materials. 4) At the next page, your course materials will appear. Click on Shopping Cart to begin the purchase process. 4. Web Account. A. MSU students must have a web account to access the Blackboard course site. B. If you do not have a web account, follow the instructions below on "How Do I Create a Web Account?" 1. At the top of MSU home page, http://www.moreheadstate.edu , click on Academics, 2. At the top of the page, click on Current Students and select Online Services from the pull down menu. 3. Under Quick Login, click on the pull down menu and select Eagle Account Center. 4. Enter your MSU Student ID. 5. Since you need a password, follow the instructions in the System Help box to the right and enter your password. 6. Click on the "Submit" button and follow the remaining instructions. 5. Reply Email Required For Blackboard Course Access. A. You have been enrolled in this course by the Blackboard Administrator, but you do not currently have access to the Blackboard course site. B. I will provide you with access to the Blackboard course site when I receive your reply email which complies with all the reply email rules contained in my Welcome to the Course email. C. One (1) day before the beginning of the course, I will provide access to the Blackboard course site to all students who have previously sent me a reply email. D. Once the course has begun, I will provide access to the Blackboard course site as soon as I receive your reply email. E. Use the following instructions to access the MSU Blackboard course site. 1. Use the MSU Blackboard web address: http://moreheadstate.blackboard.com . 2. At the Blackboard Welcome page, click on Login. 3. Enter your "Username" and "Password" and click Login. 4. Click on the My Courses yellow button in the top of the page. 5. Under the Course Catalog heading, select College of Business and Public Affairs and then select Government and Regional Analysis, and finally, select GOVT 141-301: U.S. Government. F. If you have trouble with Blackboard access, contact the MSU Office of Information Technology at 606-783-5000. 6. ADA Learning Disability A. If you have a documented Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) disability, you are entitled to reasonable accommodations and services to support your academic success and safety. B. Your request for services must be made at the beginning of the semester by contacting the MSU Disability Services Coordinator, 204-E ADUC, 606-783-5018, http://www.moreheadstate. edu/disability. C. The MSU Disability Services Coordinator will inform me about the accommodations to be provided.
