EXECUTIVE PRODUCER WELCOME

ight around the last week of May, the excitement begins to return as we start gearing up for what has become our favorite community event of the year, the Hermosa Summer Concerts. Three years ago, when the City of Hermosa Beach faced cutting the concerts from their annual budget due to the struggling economy, we saw an opportunity for Saint Rocke to contribute to the community and uphold the spirit of what our name implies to create more opportunities for the art form of live music to thrive in the South Bay. And since

then, we havent looked back. Growing up in the South Bay, there was always live music being played, but there were very few actual venues dedicated to the art. We definitely remember our parents going to The Strand to see Nina Simone, Miles Davis, and a plethora of other superstars in their prime, but ultimately times changed and the location became a Bristol Farms supermarket. So in 2007, when we were forming our concept and making a commitment to being a live venue rather than a nightclub, we truly believed that we were helping save the art of live music from disappearing from the South Bay altogether. And so, when we decided on a name, it came naturally one day in a conversation: lets save RocknRoll in our hometown. Lets be the Saint of RocknRoll. Saint Rock. Add the e to Rocke so that we dont look clich, and there you have it. Today, we are respectfully trying to carry on this local musical tradition that started back way back with Howard Rumsey and the Lighthouse Allstars, and we see the success and quality of the Hermosa Summer Concerts as integral to our mission. We hope youll enjoy the concerts this year, and we wholeheartedly thank all of our sponsors for contributing to the survival of these free community events. And for those of you that enjoy watching the concerts on the beach bringing your family and friends, creating memories remember that these small local businesses that sponsored the concerts are what made that possible. Next time you shop, we hope youll remember that and support these businesses in the same way they have supported our community. Long live music.

Musically yours,
Allen Sanford Managing Member, Saint Rocke

Testimonials
seller
We were so impressed by the service that Richard provided in order to make the sale of our home as smooth and simple as possible. Richard was amazing throughout this entire process, and he constantly checked in with us to keep us informed and answer any questions that came up. He was available to us at any time of day or night, weekday or weekend, and he immediately addressed every issue that arose throughout this entire process. I believe that his skill, experience and dedication worked strongly in our favor as he helped us to negotiate all aspects of this deal, from his recommendations to consider in the initial offer, to working so hard to secure our desired price point! He is obviously very passionate about his work, and we would be thrilled to work with him again later on down the road. Dr. Chris A. Johnson and Sarah Mellinger

We are thrilled to have the perfect place for us so quickly. Weve been in 3 weeks today! Richard was a perfect fit for us. He had houses to show us the first day we were up here and listened to everything we said. He is the perfect gentleman, was very informed, and kept us posted on absolutely everything. He made everything EASY in a very stressful situation. Weve told many people about our great experience with Coldwell Banker! Well never be able to thank you enough for making this all happen so smoothly. Your praises have been sung to many! Ginny and Larry Montgomery-Buyers from San Diego

nikka costa
If youre going to make soul music joyful, authentic, modern yet classic soul music it really helps if that music is allowed to come straight from your soul. Pebble To A Pearl the latest radiant gem by the gifted singer-songwriter and performer Nikka Costa is far and away her most direct and convincing musical statement yet. If this is Costas most pleasing album to date and it clearly is then its exactly because the woman singing to us so powerfully has finally found the creative freedom to first and foremost please herself. Ive never felt so proud of an album, says Costa who earned rave reviews and devoted fans around the world with her kinetic live performances and distinctively funky albums 2001s Everybodys Got Their Something and 2005s Cantneverdidnothing. Obviously, I want people to hear the album and love it, explains Costa. But, when it comes down to it, I dont care because this is a totally unfiltered expression of who I am and what I do. Pebble To A Pearl is the uplifting sound of an artist unbound following a difficult period with her previous record company sadly, an all too common story in recent years. This was a totally different experience and one that felt emancipating, Costa says. First, I got out of the old label, which was major. Now Im just so happy not to be caught up in that big machine thats breaking down. For a while, it felt like I was on deck of the Titanic, and I was just supposed to play the violin for myself on the ship as it was going down. I know that I was feeling that way and could tell the people at the company were feeling that too but no one could admit it. There was bullshit going down all around me, and I was extremely happy to get out of it all. Of course, then I had to figure out what the hell to do. I knew I wanted to make another record, but how? For a lifelong soul music lover like Costa, making her album and now having it affiliated with the legendary Stax Records, whose roster included some of the best in soul music like Otis Redding and Isaac Hayes, is the fulfillment of a dream. How perfect is that? Costa says with a huge, winning smile. Stax is the epitome of what Im about that was the original, integrated soul music. Thats the vibe that moved me about soul music when I was twelve, and it moves me still.

How did the band form?
Before More Love, I began as a solo singer songwriter and put out an EP called Heavy Rest. While touring the EP, I was listening to a lot of Paul Simon, Bob Marley and Michael Franti, and I began to write the song On my Way. During a gig in Venice Beach, my current guitar player Daniel Konscious Krieger was in the audience, and I invited him to sit in on bass. Prior to this night few people were dancing to my music, but that night we had the whole crowd jumping. That was really the beginning of the band vision, which eventually led to the making of our album More Love. After that night, Konscious joined as the lead guitar player, and he brought in Austin Nicholsen on bass. Austin, Konscious, and I played together as a trio for a few months before Austin brought in Josh Heffernan on drums. Not long after, during a gig at the Malibu Inn, our current percussionist Will Phillips was at the show playing with another band, and being a friend of our drummers, we invited him to sit in. Will eventually introduced us to Steve Aguilar, our keyboardist. I like how each new band member brought in the next guy, as the band grew. We have a really strong family vibe in the band, because we were all friends first, and musicians second.

In 2011 Coldwell Banker sold over $31,000,000,000 In real estate in California.

Why?
More Service. More Exposure. More Technology.
Oh, and did I mention More Service?

Call Richard to experience the Coldwell Banker Difference.

What is the inspiration behind the bands music?

Our goal is to inspire people to essentially be happy and spread the feeling they get from the music to people in their own life. We named the album More Love because the music stems from a real desire to spread more love in the world. At the time, I felt inspired to write music that stood up to the many challenges that we all face in these times, and I wanted to start spreading high vibes with the music. Each of us understands that music is a powerful medium to express emotion, and our goal is to get the crowd singing and dancing together at every concert. Our genuine inspiration is to uplift the world through our music.

What is the next move for More Love?

We are releasing our record More Love on June 30th, and hosting an album release party at MOMAI (Museum of Music and Instruments) in Venice Beach, CA. We are looking forward to our concert on July 29th, opening up for Nikka Costa at the Hermosa Beach Summer Concert Series. After that well be touring around the country promoting the More Love record. With an astounding quarter-of-a-century track record of producing 22 albums for the same label, it would be tempting for an artist to begin to take it all for granted. The fame, the adulation of fans and critics, and the very process of making music could all become too predictable. But not in the notable case of Poncho Sanchez. For the leader of the worlds most popular Latin jazz group, conceptualizing and producing a new session is as stimulating and rewarding as its ever been. The thrill is far from gone. And neither has the pride of ownership been diminished. This albums got it all, the globes most recognized conguero says of his new Concord Picante release, Raise Your Hand. I like what I like, and this is it. In terms of stylistic variety and the involvement of special guests, Raise Your Hand underscores Ponchos hands-on approach to crafting every new album. This record also highlights the conga legends innate curiosity, his sincere interest in a wide spectrum of popular music, and his cordial relationship with an eclectic group of world class musicians. On 10 invigorating tracks, Raise Your Hand explores traditional salsa and Cuban music, bebop-rooted and West Coast-seasoned Latin jazz, and vintage Latin soul a spicy amalgam of R&B and funk. Along for the ride with Poncho and his well-traveled octet are some of the most hallowed names in traditional salsa and soul music. Fabled Puerto Rican sonero Andy Montaez guests on one sensational salsa track, while R&B icon Booker T. Jones, in the company of his Mgs guitar legend Steve Cropper and vocalist Eddie Floyd, add their patented funky licks to two Floyd classics. Rounding out the guest roster are saxophonist Maceo Parker and singer Jos Perico Hernndez. And behind the participation of every guest is a personal story that gives their involvement special significance. When we perform, I tell people, This is Poncho Sanchez and his Latin Jazz Band, he concludes, strongly accenting the words Latin jazz. I do like to mess around with soul music and salsa, so youre going to get some of that too. But there is always going to get a strong dose of Latin jazz, you can count on that.

The New B*Side Players Album REVOLUTIONIZE is the highly anticipated 10th release from the San Diego based world music heavy weights. Revolutionize is an organic Latin funk blend of reggae, cumbia and Soul with a conscious message of unity and liberation. The new record features legendary percussionist Poncho Sanchez, guitarist Raul Pacheco of Ozomatli and Drummer Ryan Moran of Slightly Stoopid. The B*Side Players have been laying down their own inimitable latin global funk since they came together in 1994. Their incendiary live shows have defined them as local favorites with 9 San Diego Music awards. Meanwhile their albums showcase a band with restless musical intelligence, effortlessly blending genres to fashion their own forward looking, Latin flavored soul music. As an eight piece band the players are known for igniting crowds with their fierce rhythms and uplifting message of unity and consciousness. Meanwhile always keeping their focus on the political climate of the world and nation. The B*Side Players are a living and breathing cultural art experience for the mind body and soul. Who can throw down references to Emiliano Zapata, Victor Jara and Che Guevara on the opening track of an album and make it sound like a war cry for the most fun party of revolutionaries ever?... Ayala Ben-Yehuda - Billboard Magazine B*Side Players played the purest reggae of the night though still blending funk rhythms and Latin grooves into their overall sound. They were solid, explosive and larger than life, embarking on a quest for harmony and taking each of us with them on their fantastic journey. Eric Atienza - New York Cool.com

The Spazmatics were born in the spring of 1983 when physics professor Kevin Stigwood of Alta Dena High in Thousand Oaks California, lost a debate over String Theory to an upstart pupil in front of the entire student body and faculty. As agreed to by both parties, the loser would have to do anything that the winner demanded, and the victorious prodigy demanded that Mr. Stigwood perform She Blinded Me With Science by Thomas Dolby during half-time at an upcoming state basketball championship game. Having no musical background and desperate to not go down in total humiliation, Professor Stigwood formed The Spazmatics by tapping the genius of electronics teacher Sidney Baderman (AKA Sid Sonic), who had achieved international acclaim in 1981 for his invention of robot drums. When Baderman (who was also the girls water polo coach at Alta Dena Middle School) explained that most of the music could be generated by computers, and that all he needed was a couple of decent musicians to complete The Spazmatics, Stigwood was ecstatic. To make The Spazmatics complete, Stigwood brought in his special needs brother Curtis on bass, and teachers assistant Rusty A. Woosmeir (AKA The Raw) on guitar. When The Spazmatics took center court that evening, members of the hip elite began heckling them with jibes of geek and nerd, while everyone else howled with laughter. But once they broke into the opening salvo of Science, the nonbelievers were stunned by the groups authenticity of production, world class musicianship, and tight choreography. The Spazmatics performance came to a climax when Stigwood grabbed one of the cheerleaders and began doing the Belinda up and down the court with her in tow. When it was all over, the crowd rose in a standing ovation, and The Spazmatics were born. From the creators of the Fabulous Boogie Knights comes the Spazmatics. All the awesome sounds, styles, and way cool dance steps from the 1980s decade wed love to forget. Complete with skinny ties, Brill Creamed hair, and horn-rimmed glasses, The Spazmatics recapture all the best of the worst. Outstanding musicianship combined with creative flair and style makes for an evening of pure energy and entertainment. So tonight were gonna party like its 1999; only its not! The Spazmatics. James Clay Garrison: Greatly influenced by the rhythms and musical styles he experienced during his years as a child in Spain, James Clay Garrison became a virtuoso guitarist and vocalist at a very early age, recording his first LP at only 15. Already an experienced performer, he went on to tour the U.S., Europe, and Asia with various bands throughout the late 80s.

The Aggrolites are more than a band they are a movement unto themselves. They carry a banner one created with their own hands. This banner reads, Dirty Reggae, and represents their signature fusion of reggae, soul, grit and determination. For seven magnificent years, this dirty reggae bunch has rolled from city to city, across the pond and up main street USA. They rally the kids, the parents, the students, the cops, the bosses and the drifters. The people come, they relish in The Aggrolites, the dirty reggae and the joy that comes with it all. The liberating rhythms and catchy grooves demand a return trip. Out of the Los Angeles school of hard knocks, The Aggrolites have earned a PhD in feel good music. On the road they educate with the thunder and punch of the reggae drums and bass, the ripping, soulful melodies of the organ and guitars, and Jesse Wagners voice a gift from the heavens, a perfectly intact gift from Otis, Sam, Ray and Wilson. After eight years of touring the globe, The Aggrolites are proud to reveal their first live album, Unleashed Live Vol. 1. With five previous studio releases under their belt, including recently released Rugged Road, the next logical move for the band was a compilation of their favorite songs recorded live from recent shows at The Belly Up in Solana Beach, CA and The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. Unleashed Live Vol. 1 features songs from all four previous studio releases plus a version of The Beatles Dont Let Me Down and Banana by the legendary reggae artist, Roy Ellis. The Aggrolites have a specific way of making music. They dont over think it, they dont obsess over pop culture demands, they walk onto a stage or into a recording studio and let it happen a culmination of inspiration from the road, from playing alongside legends, and from the energy and motivation of their die hard fans. The Aggrolites are Jesse Wagner (vocals, lead guitar), Roger Rivas (organ), Jeff Roffredo (bass), Ricky Chacon (guitar) and Alex Mckenzie (Drums).

Common Sense has established itself as one of Californias premier reggae rock bands. Their influences from reggae, rock and ska, give them a new roots sound of their own. Nick Hernandez, Larry Young, Billy Sherman and Phil Gough have been brothers in music for years and are committed to performance and sound they love. The bands multiple personalities work together to craft soulful, intelligent sound that tells stories of real life. With heartfelt lyrics and melodic harmonies Common Sense delivers a true music experience. The group started out in the college music scene of Santa Barbara and quickly dominated the Southern California club scene. Noted for their high energy live shows, they continue to grow a loyal fan base. The band has toured with many legendary reggae artists such as Ziggy Marley, Steel Pulse, and Jimmy Cliff. Their far-reaching style has earned them a spot on national tours from the Vans WARP Tour to Reggae Sun Splash and Reggae on the River. Critical and commercial success has led the band to work with top producers Don Was, Ron Saint Germain and Roy Thomas Baker. Common Senses music catalog includes five albums beginning with Live at the Belly Up Tavern, followed by Psychedelic Surf Groove, State of the Nation, Common Sense Common Sense, and Dont Look Back. The band is presently in the studio recording a new album of original material slated for a summer release. ********************************************************************************

{RECAPPING 2011}

breakout band

Last summer, you were the Saint Rocke breakout band at the HBSCS. How was that show significant to you as a band playing on the beach of your hometown? It was awesome especially because we were unannounced and it gave people a chance from the neighborhood to really get to know our band. It has also been something we have talked about doing since we started. After the last year or so of growing your fan base nationally, how do you stay grounded to your South Bay roots? That is kind of a silly question because 3 of us are born south bay locals and the south bay will always be our roots no matter where we are, what we do or where we go. The South Bay is well known for its musical influence in the beach reggae, ska & punk genres. That being said, how does that affect a band like yours coming out of the South Bay? We have been influenced by so much music being from Los Angeles. The South Bay offered the influence of punk and surf music where such other neighboring cities offered hip hop, reggae influences, rock & roll and electronic. Its a melting pot and its important to dig for music and just listen to it all.

What did you learn in the early stages of the band that has helped you while on the road performing on major tours? Be professional but at the same time never take yourself too seriously and have fun! What advice do you have for other local bands from Hermosa Beach? HAVE FUN!!!! Enjoy every moment of playing with your friends!!! Dont ever get stuck and experiment! Who do you credit as your biggest musical influences? Well... this is always an interesting question due to the fact that we have so many influences but to name our biggest influences... Sublime, Born Jamericans, Thievery Corporation, Bob Dylan, Rage, Stevie Wonder. Tell us about your new album. Its entitled The Great Escape produced by Damon Elliot. We had such an amazing experience recording this record! Worked with some of the best in the business and got to really mature our sound. Where is Tomorrows Bad Seeds in 5 years? Playing on MARS!!! When do your hometown fans get to see you play again in the South Bay?

What was your favorite part of the HBSCS? The fact that it was kept very local.

We are currently on the Vans Warped Tour, but will be heading out on a headlining fall tour which will include a House of Blues show in Hollywood as our last show of the tour October 6th 2012!

Welcome to Watermark:
Transparency and solutions are the foundation of my success, and I promise both to each and every client. While other lenders focus on feel good services, I focus on the financing. In an industry that hasnt had a great reputation over the past few years, I take pride in knowing that Ive gained the trust and respect of my clients. In todays market the most important thing when obtaining a home loan is the mortgage professional you work with and the resources that they have at their disposal. Whether you have a simple conventional purchase, or a complex Jumbo transaction, feel free to call me at anytime and find out why Watermark is right for you.
