In the world of industry, sugar cane into raw materials for the manufacture of sugar is one source of income for about 900 thousand farmers with the amount of labor involved approximately 1.3 million people. However, there is a decline in performance both in terms of acreage, production and efficiency levels occurred in the last decade resulted in a government concern about the need for and consumption of sugar (Balittas, 2005). PT Gunung Madu Plantations (PT GMP) is one of the industry in Indonesia is engaged in the sugar cane and its processing into sugar. The company is doing in partnership with farmers located in Central Lampung and has 4,000 hectares of sugar cane that people will still continue to grow in partnership activities. In partnership with the sugar cane farmers are making progress, but in the last two years, many farmers are turning to partners sugarcane farming cassava and disengage from the partnership going.
This research takes a case study on the sugar mill PT Gunung Madu Plantations are located in the Canal District Nunyai, Central Lampung regency. As an effort to supply raw materials production, the company is run in partnership with farmers around. Therefore, this study aims to: (1) identify and analyze the implementation of the partnership and the perception of farmers towards the implementation of an ongoing partnership between farmers and PT Gunung Madu Plantations (2) identify and analyze the differences between the cane farm income with alternative crops in the Canal District Nunyai. The method of analysis used in this study were used in the descriptive analysis of knowing and analyzing the implementation of the partnership and the perception of farmers towards the implementation of the ongoing partnership between farmers and PT Gunung Madu Plantations, in addition to the analysis of different test average is used to determine and analyze the differences farm income of sugarcane with alternative crops in the district Nunyai Canal. From the results of descriptive analysis, that the implementation of the partnership is good, this can be seen from eighteen farmers (62.07%) of the respondents are twenty-nine respondents considered that the implementation of the partnership is good. Besides the overall assessment of the perception of farmers is positive, to a partnership which lasted, as seen from the results contained Likert scaling fifteen farmers (51.72%) having a positive perception, which means satisfied with the implementation of the partnerships that have been implemented so that the partnership continues until the time of the interview respondents. From the analysis of different test on average been no real difference between the income of farmers and farmers' cassava partners. Key words: partnership, farmers, sugar cane, income.
