Office of Elementary and Secondary Education: Innovative Approaches to Literacy Program (CFDA No. 84.215G) Purpose: To support high-quality programs designed to develop and improve literacy skills for children and students from birth through grade 12 in high-need local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools. Eligibility: A high-need LEA; a national not-for-profit organization that serves children and students of a high-need LEA; a consortium of one or more national not-for-profit organizations that serve children and students within one or more high-need LEAs; or a consortium of high-need LEAs. Development of Materials Specific to Compassion Fatigue and Vicarious Trauma in Corrections (CFDA No. 16.601) Purpose: To develop a series of products to define, identify, and address compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma within the corrections profession. Eligibility: State or general unit of government, private agency, educational institution, organization, individual, or team with expertise in the described areas. Funding: $58,000. Vocational Rehabilitation and Developing Strategies for Meeting Employer Needs (CFDA No. 84.133B-1) Purpose: To plan and conduct research, demonstration projects, training, and related activities, including international activities; develop methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technology that maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, independent living, family support, and economic and social self-sufficiency of individuals with disabilities; and improve the effectiveness of services. Eligibility: Public or private agencies, including for-profit agencies; public or private organizations, including for-profit organizations; institutions of higher education; and Indian tribes and tribal organizations. Dosage-Based Probation as an Effective Intervention (CFDA No. 16.603) Purpose: Outlines a framework of strategies that, when jurisdictions implement them correctly, lead to reductions in offender risk. Principles are in developmental order, do not operate in a vacuum, and are highly interdependent. Calls for the integration of dosage into the other more established principles of risk, need, and responsivity. Eligibility: Public or private agency, educational institution, organization, individual, or team with expertise in the described areas. Funding: $100,000. Deadline: 8/6/12. Contact: Tel. Innovation Corps - Regional Node Program (CFDA Nos. 47.041, 47.049, 47.050, 47.070, 47.074, 47.075, 47.076, and 47.080) Purpose: To develop and nurture a national innovation ecosystem that builds upon fundamental research to guide the output of scientific discoveries closer to the development of technologies, products, and processes that benefit society. Eligibility: Universities and two- and four-year colleges (including community colleges) accredited in, and having a campus located in, the U.S., acting on behalf of their faculty members. Eligibility: A library or a parent organization, such as a school district, a municipality, a state agency, or an academic institution, that is responsible for the administration of a library, including public libraries; public elementary and secondary school libraries; college and university libraries; research libraries and archives that are not an integral part of an institution of higher education and that make publicly available library services and materials that are suitable for scholarly research and not otherwise available; private or special libraries that have been deemed eligible to participate in this program by the state in which the library is located; an academic or administrative unit, such as a graduate school of library and information science that is part of an institution of higher education through which it would make application; and a digital library, if it makes library materials publicly available and provides library services, including selection, organization, description, reference, and preservation, under the supervision of at least one permanent professional staff librarian.

Office of Postsecondary Education: American Overseas Research Centers (AORC) Program (CFDA No. 84.274A) Purpose: To provide grants to consortia of institutions of higher education to establish or operate an AORC that promotes postgraduate research, exchanges, and area studies. Eligibility: Consortia of U.S. institutions of higher education that receive more than 50% of their funding from public or private U.S. sources and have a permanent presence in the country in which the center is located. R40 Maternal and Child Health Research Program (MCHR) (CFDA No. 93.110) Purpose: To support applied research relating to maternal and child health services including services for children with special health care needs which show promise of substantial contribution to advancement of the current knowledge pool and, when used in states and communities, should result in health and health services improvements. Eligibility: Public or nonprofit institutions of higher learning and public or private nonprofit agencies engaged in research or in programs relating to maternal and child health and/or services for children with special health care needs.
