A Defensive Driving Program for Commercial Vehicle Operators


(Personalized and Assessment Based Training)
Students will learn practical defensive driving concepts, strategies, and legalities for operating commercial vehicles. Objectives include developing an acute safe driving awareness attitude and understanding, increasing knowledge of traffic laws and liabilities, and improving defensive driving strategies/techniques which reduce violations and collisions. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS & CREATORS Lt. Mark R. Hafkey, M. ed.


Lt. Hafkey is a 17-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Dept. (PPD), specializing in traffic safety and education, and is a Drug Recognition Expert Instructor. He is adjunct faculty at Phoenix College, a defensive driving school instructor trainer, and President of Safe Driving Institute, Inc.

Officer Mark Beadles, Commercial Vehicle Operator (C.V.I.)


Ofc. Beadles has 24 years of law enforcement experience with the Phoenix PD, 18 as a Motor Officer and 6 as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector and is a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). He is a Level I Inspector, certified in HazMat and tankers, as well as a Weigh Master; and he instructs statewide.

Dr. Roger Miller, Ph.D


Dr. Miller has his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado and has worked as a professor at six different universities; in Industry for Northrop Aviation and Systran; as a management trainer for airport administrators in Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Richard Besserman, M.D., M.S., CHS-III


Dr. Besserman has a Doctorate in Medicine and a Masters in Emergency and Disaster Management and has experience in computer based training and experiential learning technology. He is also Director of Operations for Safe Driving Institute, Inc.
