Everybody must have an unforgettable experience, including me. I have an unforgettable experience when I was about 5 years old maybe, because at that time I did not entered an elementary school yet. This story happened in my village in Sukoharjo around the year of 1987. Here is my unforgettable experience.

It was in the middle of the night when I suddenly woke up and cried loudly. Then I walked to llook for my Father. I came into his bedroom. My father got up and shocked, then asked me, “What happens honey”? I answered, ”Pak, let’s go to Semarang to meet Ibu. Let’s go! Hurry up!”. From his face I knew that my father confused and wondered why, but he followed me walking to the door after taking his sarung. Then he unlocked and opened the door. We walked through the front yard, then through the gate. After walking approximately 5 meters from the gate, he stopped his step. He said “Honey, I am sorry I forgot to close and lock the door. Look! It is still open”. I looked back to our home, and it was. “I will close and lock it for a moment, ok?” He asked me and I said “OK, then ”. Then he turned back to our home. He had leaved me alone in the street. I looked around where I was standing. It was so dark. There was only a small lamp in each intersection. The distance between one and another home was so far. And the distance filled by the tall trees. There was no body I could see. I heard nocturnal animals singing cheerfully. But I did not. After waiting for a while, I felt scared. My father did not turn back to the place where I was standing. I was so scared. Scared of ghost and other scary creature would come to me. Suddenly there was a loud sound from the top of the trees. I did not know what was that. Therefore I knew that it was at night, not at noon. I run as fast as I could, turning back to my home. The door was still open. I came into the house and looked for my father. He was in his bedroom, slept soundly. Then I went back to my bedroom too. I tried to remember what had happened to me, but I could not find the matters, so I decided to sleep again.

In the morning, my father did not say anything. It seemed nothing happened. Maybe he did not want me to be ashamed. But I still remember that night vividly. Maybe at that time I missed my mother so much, because she had been working in Semarang for long time and went home rarely. And when she went home, she only stayed for few hours then turned back to Semarang again.

My unforgettable experience when I sat in fifth grade. At that time, me and

two my friends

represent the school to follow the Islamic religion quiz.

We were

trained by my religion teacher which

very smart in terms of hadith, worship and

others.
others.

We

must be willing to left a very valuable lesson to practice.

Our challenge

was spelled the sentence Arabic which often became the question in the

competition. But when we spelled other subject which nothing the sentence Arabic

we can to spelled it. Every day we practiced to be the best in the competition.

That day arrived

where we should test our mind about all Islamic subject

that gave by the jury. The competition was held on Friday afternoon. In the morning before the competition, we did the last practice. And before the

When

competition was began, we assemble in the school and depart together. we've reached their destination precisely on the radio the town of Sidoarjo

. We

were nervous because that was the first our experience. When, we enter to the room, we toke the place for sit. The competition began. We can answer all questions easily. The first and second stage we lead the competition. But when the last stage, our score was decrease. Finally, we should confess our rival and became the second champion but we can follow the next round. We came back to the home happyly. Every day, we practicing. But if there was an examination in the school, we stop the practice because we should concentrate about it. When the next round was came, we constant to be the second champion until we can follow the final round.

We should struggle to be the best in final stage and ask pray to teacher and parents. To prepared the final stage, we should practice every day. The time is coming, where we should test the all sbject about Islamic with our friends. This time, the place in the Department of Education. Maybe because the final stage, so the place was different. We should ready with all the risk. We face question by question until the last stage and the last question. We should confess the greatness of the

rival.

But never mind, we still get the second champion and get the championship

trophy.

My Unforgettable Experience

When I was young at the age of 5 yrs.old,I have a very worst unforgettable experience.I would like to share it to everybody. My family at that time except me went to our province in Lanao Del Norte in order to visit my grandfather in my father side. They did not join me because we dont have an exact money to pay for.My sister at that time was only 2 yrs.old so thats why they bring my sister to their trip. They just only left me to my grandmother in my mother side here in Iligan. One day morning,my grandmother ask me to buy a bread together with my 8 yrs.old cousin. While walking,we surprisingly discover that theres a big and fatty horse in our way.Its really hard to continue walking because the road their is too small for us to go forward and just ignoring that their is a horse. We need to stop and find some ways on how to escape that horse. But as a young children,we just only made a small and low idea without thinking that it was a dangerous idea for us to do.All we want is to buy a bread and bring it back to our grandmother. So our plan is,we must run as hard as we could so that the horse cannot follow us.The first person that tend to do the plan was my cousin. My cousin is successfully escape to that certain horse. And I have a big guts that I can do it too.And then,I started running as much as I could but as a 5 yrs.old girl,I can only run little compared to an 8 yrs.old girl. While running,I was shock and nervous when the horse face me.But,I was totally shock when the horse started running and attack me every now and then. And ouch!!! I was badly fell down to the land.I try to stand but I could not because I was in the corner of the feet and behind the stomach of that dangerous horse. The horse hit my head and I was badly shaken.I felt loosing. My cousin was trying to save and get me but the horse hit her leg.She fell down.My cousin shouted as hard as she could until the owner of the horse came out and save us.My cousin was crying when she saw my head that full of blood.I dont have any energy to talk and to walk. The owner of the horse get me and bring me back to my grandmother's house. They call and inform my parents about what happen. They exactly arrived at 12 noon while crying. They brought me to the hospital. And oh my GOD,it was my first time thst I send to the hospital.I always cry at that time. That was my unforgettable experience that happen in my life.

Many experiences that can not be overlooked. One of the experience was when I was in grade 2 sma. At that time my extracurricular is a scout.

Previously I had never entered scout organization, when I go scout it turns out a lot of hurdles that must be faced before getting a badge. I have to bask in the sun to test the physical endurance. I learned so much about the scout. Scout itself is not only wear clothes with a brown hat and cane, but in it we are also required to socialize with the surrounding community. I have been helping police curb the street. In the heat of the sun, I helped negatur highway passing around bintaro.

Another experience was when I became a committee at my school that is in SMK Negeri 50 Jakarta. I as a committee that organized a band. Me and my friends from scouts to the committee in the event. I am in charge of maintaining the security of the event from start to finish it. In addition to the committee in the event the school band, I also represent a mayor of East Jakarta. A sense of nervousness mixed with fear and love surround me. oversee a mayor is not easy challenge which I demanded to be always ready. That’s my experience of being a scout who berlencana “Bantara”.

How I learned English

(I wrote this story in 2001.)

My full name is Michal Ryszard Wojcik. I live in Poland and Polish is my native language. I am a mathematician and an enthusiast of English. I learned English very well and now I want to share my experience with other people.

  • I had my first contact with English when I was six. My dad inspired me to listen to The Beatles. I listened to them every day for the next seven years. In the beginning I could understand nothing of

what they were singing. But soon I started to understand individual words, especially the ones which appeared in the titles.

Later I got a book with the words of all the songs. I read the book many times. I learned many songs by heart. I sang the songs to myself. Still, I understood very little of the meaning. It became my dream to learn English so well that I could understand The Beatles. So The Beatles were my first motivation. That is how I started my way toward English.

Today, I can understand The Beatles very clearly. Each time I hear a Beatles song, I am delighted and proud because I have made my childhood dream come true. I listen to many rock bands, all in English, and I listen every day, sometimes for over seven hours a day. I am constantly aware of my success with English because I can understand the lyrics of the songs I listen to. And that gives me pleasure and satisfaction for many hours every day.

When I was 13 years old, I started reading science fiction books. I read in Polish. The books were all American. I could not read the original versions because I did not know English so well. As I read in Polish, I was more and more eager to read the books in English. Somehow I felt that in English the books will be even more interesting and reading will be more exciting. I finally decided that I wanted to read books in English. This decision guided me for many years.

  • I learned every new English word that I met. With each new word I felt closer to my goal. With each word I felt that my reading ability was increasing. Each word added to my sense of power.

At some point I read my first whole book in English and I understood it. That moment was a breakthrough in my life. I knew that I had broken a barrier, gotten into a new world. I found that reading is much more exciting in English. When I read in English, I have not only the pleasure of reading, but also the pleasure of using English and the pleasure of learning English. For the last four years I have read books only in English, with very few exceptions.

  • I have read many pop-science books in English. Some of them are still not available in Polish. My knowledge of English allowed me to get in touch with the current state of evolutionary theory and cognitive science of the mind. Without English, I would not have read the books because there are no Polish translations of them. When I learned English well enough to read pop-science books, I discovered that English is a very important tool for learning science.

Currently I study mathematics. Most of the books I use are in English. In fact, most of the books in my math institute's library are in English. I discovered that my knowledge of English is very important for my learning mathematics. Without English I would be limited to the few books which are in Polish, and there are really few of them. Over a year ago I decided to use English only in mathematical notes. I read and write math materials in English, like most professional mathematicians. I have become part of the international mathematical community. I can read math materials on the Internet and I can publish my own materials, with no language barriers. I feel free!

English has given me so much satisfaction and pleasure and also I find it so useful in my scientific pursuit, that I decided to share my methods and my experience with other people. On Antimoon, I try to help people to learn English with pleasure. I know that it is possible to derive satisfaction from the process of learning English and I want to share it with others.

High School, the Best Four Years of My Life

High School, the Best Four Years of My Life By <a href=lmen1935 , Downers Grove, IL More by this author Email me when lmen1935 contributes work Photo credit: Maria H., Cincinnati, OH A belief that I have come to hold after starting high school is that private schools fall short of the most important benefits that public schools have to offer. I have learned this through my own personal experience of going to a catholic grammar school for nine years, and then transitioning to the public high school that I currently attend. Of course, the main purpose of going to school is to gain a good education that will help you be successful in the future. This belief I do hold true; both private and public schools grant this opportunity. But public schools and private schools each grant an entirely different social experience, and the social experience, in my opinion, is much more valuable than the academic experience. Along with gaining an education, part of being successful in life is learning how to interact and form relationships with people who are different from you. In grammar school, the majority of the people I met were white, Catholic, and of the same learning ability. Every day at school, students were expected to wear uniform clothes, uniform hair styles, and learn at a uniform pace. There were no accommodations for people with slower learning paces; everyone was expected to keep up. Growing up, this is how I expected all schools were like. A belief that I have come to hold after starting high school is that private schools fall short of the most important benefits that public schools have to offer. For nine years I was almost blinded to the fact that people of different religion and learning pace, even physical appearance,

even existed in the real world. But the fact is there are more types of people than Catholics and quick learners. For this reason, I decided to branch out and try something new by attending a public high school.

My freshman year of high school was an amazing eye-opener for me. I met a greater

variety of people in a single classroom at high school than I did in my entire grammar school career. I have met people with long hair, short hair, black hair, and purple hair.

  • I have met people with different religions, and others with no religion at all. I have

met people who are two years ahead of everyone else, and others who are two years behind. There are jocks, musicians, bookworms, and others with interests outside the school, but no one is judged for that; people can be whoever they want to be. I admit, all this freedom of expression was overwhelming to me, but at the same time, it was refreshing. Meeting so many different students, and also teachers, with so many different interests made me that much more interested in meeting more people. This experience made me realize how valuable the social aspect of a public high school really is. In the future, when I go to college and begin my career, I will be meeting and working with people who have different backgrounds than my own. For this reason, I will never regret the decision I have made in attending a public high school.

  • I have heard adults tell me that high school is going to be the best four years of my

life. So far, they are right. I am so grateful for the opportunity to experience a public high school. I cherish every experience and relationship that I have made in my first three years of high school so far. Of course, as I move on with my life, I will value the education that high school has granted me. But it is the relationships that I have made with students and teachers that I will take with me as I graduate high school and move on to college.

My Unforgettable Experience in School

  • I was born with a problem in my spine and mobility is a big problem. But still thanks to my teachers and my friends, my school life was Excellent.

  • I and my friends sat together, shared Tiffin and used to have lots of fun.

Whenever we got a free period we used to start shouting or play games. I would

participate in all competitions, like poem writing, story writing, collage, painting, debate etc. Also in all functions like teachers day, foundation day or anybody's b'day and had tons of fun.

Both my English teachers were nice. One English teacher was very tall and the moment she would enter the class we all would sit quit and open the books. She would encourage me by giving me important assignments and also morning news to read in the assembly. She would come down and hear my English debate, which made me participate in all the debate competitions.

The same was with my Hindi teacher. My biology and home-science teacher was very nice and very sweet. She would always give me extra information for the biology project. I could not go to the lab for the practical, so she would bring the lab down and help me both for the biology and home science practical and would give me excellent marks for them.

  • I was always the part of groups song or played the Casio in any school function.

My friends made me the Tiffin monitor and the naughty boys had to now listen to

me.

My friends used to help me with my notes if I was absent. My teachers and principal madam always gave me important project work and I felt proud when they patted me after I completed them quickly and correctly. I was never shouted at or scolded or abused ever by any of my teachers.

Today I saw the terrible punishment given to students on television news. I felt very sad and terrible.

I really want to express my love, thanks and gratitude to all my wonderful teachers and friends without whom my school life would not have been so happy and unforgettable. Thank you to all my teachers. I really pray to god that each child is blessed with caring teachers as I was to cherish their school days and make them want to go to school every day.
