FINANCIAL AND ON DUTY LEAVE FACILITIES TO THE FACULTY MEMBERS FOR ATTENDING CONFERENCES/SEMINARS/WORKSHOP/LONG & SHORT TERM COURSES The management of the Galgotias University is keen to promote research culture in the university for which all possible supports will be provided to the faculty members of the university. The eligibility criteria and the facilities provided by the university are as follows: PREREQUISITE 1. The faculty member should have been invited to the conference for which proof of acceptance of paper or to chair a session is mandatory. 2. Applications should be duly recommended by the Dean and the Vice Chancellor of the Galgotias University based on the review and remarks of DRC which will give preference to those papers which cover interdisciplinary areas of research and worthy of funding and/or industrial collaborations. 3. A faculty should serve a minimum of one year in the University before being eligible to receive financial assistance for participating in international conferences abroad. 4. For conferences/seminars/workshops/long term and short term courses within the country, the eligibility to receive financial assistance is serving the university for a minimum period of 6 months. 5. However, on duty leave facility can be availed by the faculty members after serving the university for at least one month for attending conferences/seminars/workshops/long term and short term courses within the country or abroad. The total number of on duty leaves given to a faculty member will not exceed 15 days in total in an academic year.
6. For getting sponsorship to present a paper in a conference, it is mandatory that

the conference is recognized by some government bodies or international bodies such as UGC, AICTE, IEEE etc. and the proceeding of the conference is indexed in a well known database. However, as a special case, relaxation in any of the above rules is at the discretion of the Vice Chancellor, Galgotias University, FACILITIES PROVIDED BY THE UNIVERSITY 1. A faculty member will be reimbursed full registration fee of the conference, both ways travel expenses by entitled class, DA as applicable and on duty leave (for the duration of the conference as per university rule) for attending a conference within the country once in an academic year. 2. A faculty member will be reimbursed full registration fee of the conference, cheapest return air fare, 50% of DA as applicable and on duty leave (for the duration of the

conference as per university rule) for attending a conference abroad once in two years. Before applying to GU for sponsorship it is mandatory that the faculty member shall apply for financial assistance to funding agencies such as UGC, AICTE, DST etc. and in case of grant received from the funding agency, the same shall be deposited with GU. However, if any faculty member attends conferences seminars/workshops/long term and short term courses for more number of times than given in S.No. 1 and 2, the university will give on duty leave only upto a maximum of 10 days in total in an academic year (the limit can be enhanced by the Vice Chancellor on a case to case basis). For travelling within the country for the above mentioned purpose, the faculty of the rank of Professor will be eligible for 2nd AC fare of train or cheapest air fare and those below the rank of professor will be eligible for 3 AC fare of the train by the shortest route. Only one faculty member who will be the lead author will receive assistance for a multiple authored paper.

RESPOSIBILITIES OF FACULTY AVAILING FACILITIES FROM GALGOTIAS UNIVERSITY 1. A faculty member availing financial assistance to travel abroad for attending a conference/seminars/workshop/long & short term courses should serve GU for a minimum period of six months from the date of availing the on duty leave failing which he/she will have to forfeit 50% of the amount availed. 2. A faculty member availing financial assistance to travel within the country for attending a conference /seminars/workshop/long & short term courses should serve GU for a minimum period of three months from the date of availing the on duty leave failing which he/she will have to forfeit 50% of the amount availed. 3. The faculty member (presenter) will have to submit a copy of the paper published in the proceeding of the conference to the research committee and will have to give a presentation before the faculty of GU within one month of the paper presentation.
