Stand information confirmed by on site observation of Timbercraft Forestry August 2009) Age Class: Even Aged Stocking: Inadequate Points Samples: BAF: 10 Number: 15 Date: November 2007 MSD: 8 inches Trees/Acre: 160 Forest Type: Northern Hardwoods Total BA: Ags: 48 Ugs: 17 BA/Acre: 65 Stand Description Summary Stand 1 is an inadequately stocked northern hardwood stand. The over all health of the stand is good with no major problems other than beech scale, and some nectria in the black birch. There is good mixed hardwood regeneration, as well as pioneer species in areas. Long Term Objectives The long term objective of this area should be to manage as an uneven-aged northern hardwood stand with a goal of producing quality hardwood saw logs in the following diameter classes: 14 white birch, aspen 16 red maple, beech, black birch 18 red oak, ash, sugar maple, black cherry Favor sugar maple Harvesting should be done on a fifteen year cycle. The ultimate goal should be to reach a Q factor of 1.5.

The over all health of the stand is fair with sunscald and top dieback present in many of the residual stems. There is mixed regeneration in places, although in more open areas ferns and blackberries form the primary component. Long Term Objectives The long term objective of this area should be to manage as an uneven-aged mixed hardwood stand with a goal of producing quality hardwood saw logs in the following diameter classes: 14 white birch, aspen 16 red maple, beech, black birch 18 red oak, ash, sugar maple, black cherry Favor sugar maple Harvesting should be done on a fifteen year cycle. The over all healthof the stand is good with no major problems other than some nectria in the black birch. There is mixed hardwood regeneration present, though it is limited in places. There is also patchy spruce regeneration. Long Term Objectives The long term objective of this area should be to manage as an uneven-aged mixed wood stand with a goal of producing quality mixed wood saw logs in the following diameter classes: 14 white birch, aspen 16 red maple, spruce, black birch, black birch 18 white pine, red oak, ash, sugar maple, black cherry Favor red oak Harvesting should be done on a fifteen year cycle. The ultimate goal should be to reach a Q factor of 1.5.

The over all health of the stand is good with no major problems other than beech scale. There is good mixed hardwood throughout, as well as patchy spruce regeneration throughout. Long Term Objectives The long term objective of this area should be to manage as an uneven-aged mixed hardwood stand with a goal of producing quality hardwood saw logs in the following diameter classes: 14 white birch, aspen 16 red maple, beech, black birch 18 red oak, ash, sugar maple, black cherry Favor sugar maple Harvesting should be done on a fifteen year cycle.
