Associate Director The Soap Factory A committed, knowledgeable and detail-orientated leader with experience in grant management, individual

l giving and capital development, with a passion for the support of the visual arts. Mission Statement The Soap Factory is a laboratory for artistic experimentation and innovation, dedicated to supporting artists and engaging audiences through the production and presentation of contemporary art in a unique and historic environment. Based in the historic National Purity Soap Factory in downtown Minneapolis, The Soap Factory is a 501(c )(3) non-profit. The Associate Director Role The Associate Director is the person primarily responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of all fund-raising activities that support the revenue goals set by the Executive Director and Board of The Soap Factory. The Associate Director reports to the Executive Director, works closely with the Executive Director and subcommittees of the Board of Directors, and will be expected to provide reports to the Board and attend those meetings when required. In 2002 The Soap Factory had annual audiences of 2,500 and annual revenues of $75,000. In 2011 our organization had an annual audience of 25,000 and revenues of $400,000+. In those 9 years, The Soap Factory realized its immense potential for growth: in 2012, that growth continues, and, as Associate Director, you will be directly responsible for ensuring that growth is both supported and sustainable. Our nationally and internationally recognized programs of exhibitions, residencies and events provide, within our historic building, a vital and engaged third space for contemporary art and audiences in the Twin Cities; a laboratory for art, artists and creative experimentation. As our new Associate Director, you will be challenged with continuing to grow our grant and individual giving support, and with developing our increasingly important earned income stream. With the Board and Executive Director, you will be able to look strategically at The Soap Factorys future needs, preparing Board, staff, artists, volunteers and stakeholders for a capital campaign to complete the rehabilitation of our 130 year-old historic building as gallery, residency studios, creative laboratory, and space for artistic engagement. As a key member of our full-time staff you will be expected to play a full part in the life of this extraordinary organization as it enters its 25th year, developing the resources that allow our innovative programs to happen.
