Use symbols conforming to Engineering Standard 0804-50.1.011 - Electrical Symbols and 5602-0.1.510 - Instrumentation Standard Symbols and Legends. Drawings fall under the following categories: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. PLC Cabinet Details Motor PLC Schematic and Wiring Diagram PLC Input/Output Schematic Drawing PLC Input/Output Wiring Diagram PLC Control Power Distribution Drawing Equipment Locations Cable Schedule / Block Diagram PLC Communications Network Block Diagram

Optional Drawings: 9. 10. PLC and Remote Input/Output Rack Layout PLC Process Flow Chart

Do not attempt to combine these drawings - each drawing has a separate function and must be produced as an individual drawing.

Draw all PLC drawings using INCO's standard drafting practices on MicroStation.. The Inco title block on the drawing shall not be modified. Use Inco's PLC standard cells for all PLC drawings. All PLC drawings will be used to provide field installation details, start-up information and troubleshooting assistance to the maintenance personnel.

1.

PLC CABINET DETAILS The PLC Cabinet Details drawing will be drawn with a preferred scale of 1 1/2 inches = 1 foot or if required a scale of 1 inch = 1 foot. The functions of the PLC Cabinet Details are: to indicate the physical size and dimensions of the PLC panel including: - applicable codes for panel construction - panel enclosure rating - panel details and construction - panel construction materials - panel colour - panel lighting - panel grounding - location and size of the window/windows to allow the viewing of the PLC inputs and outputs to indicate the location of all major devices including the rack locations, the terminal block locations, the air conditioner location (if required), power supplies and the wireways to indicate the panel wiring details including: - wire sizing - wire marking - wire terminations - wire colour code - terminal block models and types - terminal block mounting - terminal block marking

See typical PLC Cabinet Details Drawing 0803-50.5.511.

MOTOR SCHEMATIC AND WIRING DIAGRAM

0803-50.04.011

Vale
Engineering Standard The motor schematic and wiring drawing will have a maximum of two motors drawn on each drawing, one motor preferred. The functions of the motor schematic and wiring diagram are: to show the correct operation of the motor control circuit to indicate all of the components so that the interconnection as well as device wiring is defined to indicate all PLC inputs and outputs for each motor to provide a module key plan to physically locate the PLC input and output modules for the motor. to provide information to the electrician to physically connect the cables

See typical Motor Schematic and Wiring Diagram 0803-50.9.511.

3.

PLC INPUT/OUTPUT SCHEMATIC DRAWING The PLC input/output schematic drawing will be drawn to a minimum 3/4 inch centre-to centre spacing. Each PLC input/output schematic drawing will have a maximum of four input and/or output modules per drawing; three preferred. The PLC input devices will be drawn to the left of the module, the PLC output devices will be drawn to the right of the module. Where possible, show the input and output modules in numerical order according to its drop or rack number and slot number. The PLC input/output schematic drawing will contain a PLC Module Key Plan indicating the location of the PLC modules shown on this drawing. The functions of the input/output schematic diagrams are: to indicate the drop or rack number, module location (slot number) in the drop or rack, the module model number, and the type and description of each module to indicate the analog and discrete input and output devices for each module to provide information for preparing wiring drawings to indicate the tag number and its description/operation for each input and output to indicate wire and terminal numbers Page 3 of 6

4.

PLC INPUT/OUTPUT WIRING DIAGRAM Use the wiring diagram corresponding to Engineering Standard 0803-50.1.011 Drafting Practice - Electrical Drawings. The required wiring diagrams will also include drawings which indicate the dip switch settings for GE modules and the pin outs for the DB connectors for communications with modems and programming computers. The PLC wiring diagrams will also indicate the module keying requirement for each Modicon input and output module. The PLC input/output wiring drawing will contain a PLC Module Key Plan indicating the location of the PLC modules shown on this drawing. See typical PLC Input/Output Wiring Diagram 0803-50.8.511.

5.

PLC CONTROL POWER DISTRIBUTION DRAWING The functions of the PLC control power distribution drawing are: to indicate the control power distribution from the power source (switchroom and starter rack numbers) to the input/output modules, PLC power supply and any other power supplies to provide wiring information to the panel manufacturers to provide information to the electrician and/or instrument man for isolating power within the PLC system to indicate control transformer(s) and any filtered and regulated power (e.g. 24 Volts DC power supply) to indicate power distribution panel numbers and circuit numbers to indicate cable numbers and their size to indicate wire numbers, terminal blocks and PLC input/output power distribution supplies

See typical PLC Control Power Distribution Schematic Drawing 0803-50.6.511.

6.

EQUIPMENT LOCATIONS Use the System Layout drawing corresponding to Engineering Standard 080350.1.011 -Drafting Practice - Electrical Drawings.

CABLE SCHEDULE / BLOCK DIAGRAM Use the Cable Schedule drawing corresponding to Engineering Standard 080350.1.011 -Drafting Practice - Electrical Drawings. The PLC communications network block diagram is required when the PLC is wired for remote communications from a central location. This drawing must be updated as PLC's are added, modified or deleted from the PLC system.

8.

PLC COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK BLOCK DIAGRAM The functions of the PLC Communications Network drawing are: to assist in the layout of the PLC systems and allow for future additions to the network to assist in the logical grouping of the PLC and their remote input/output racks to indicate the type of communications systems (fibre optic, coax cable, modbus, modbus plus, Allen-Bradley Data Highway II etc.) to assign node address identification numbers for each network device (PLC, DCS and MMI) to indicate type of modem and/or converter at each location See typical PLC Communications Network Block Diagram 0803-50.12.511.

9.

PLC AND REMOTE INPUT/OUTPUT RACK LAYOUTS (OPTIONAL) The PLC rack layout drawing is required when the PLC has more than one rack. The functions of the PLC and remote input/output rack layouts are: to show the PLC with all of its remote input/output drops (racks) to indicate the slot numbers, module model numbers and location, input/output numbers, the PLC power supplies locations and their reference schematic and wiring drawings to assist in the PLC system configuration and its traffic cop if required to assist in the PLC power supply calculation to indicate any additional power supplies (if required), remote input/output drop or rack number, any rack interconnecting cables with their part number and cable number

See typical PLC and Remote Input/Output Rack Layout Drawing 0803-50.10.511. 0803-50.04.011 Page 5 of 6

10.

PLC PROCESS FLOW CHART The PLC process flow chart is required when the PLC program for the process is complicated. This drawing will help define the parameters of the PLC program. The PLC process flow charts will use common flow chart symbols such as: Process Symbol Input/Output Symbol Decision Symbol Terminal Symbol Onpage and Offpage Connector Flow Line Annotation

The process flow chart will start the process flow at the top and finish the process at the bottom. The functions of the PLC process flow charts are: to indicate the purpose and flow of the logic within the PLC program to assist the non-technical user in understanding the PLC program to ensure that all the requirements for the PLC program are understood and met to assist in the fail safe procedures

See typical PLC Flow Chart Diagram 0803-50.11.511.
