PREFACE
This Handbook was prepared by the Joint Standards Australia/Standards New Zealand Subcommittee HE/1/3, Safe Disposal of Sharps and Clinical Wastes, under the responsibility of Committee HE/1, Medical, Diagnostic and Surgical Products, to provide users of AS/NZS 3816 1998, Management of clinical and related wastes, with an insight into its requirements. It is designed to increase the understanding and beneficial use of the Standard for application in Australia only. This Handbook is the result of a consensus among representatives on the Joint Committee to produce it as an Australian Handbook. This Handbook must be used in conjunction with AS/NZS 3816. It should not be read in isolation.
