Greetings, What a way to end the month of July! Last Sunday was a perfect picture of the Gospel lived out before our very eyes. We were fortunate to be blessed by the youth band from Leona Valley Community Church as they led us in worship. To see a group of young people singing praises to Jesus, reading scripture, praying and being focused on Him alone gives me great hope. We had two new members, Marilyn Blench and Trevor Bloom join the body of Christ. Melissa Murillo, Tennace Kay Graves, and Maria Teresa Costa made public their faith in Jesus Christ through baptism. Mike Redding gave us a word on Faith. All of this was a testimony of the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ alone. But the hope I have does not come from the individuals who gave public testimony, but from God who through Christ has the power to change lives. The Gopsel is not about our church attendance, or our religious activities, or how much quiet time we have, or how many verses we have memorized. All of that is important , but we are saved, sanctified, and sustained by what Jesus did on the cross through the power of His resurrection. If we try to factor anything into our lives as more significant than Gods saving power through the death, burial and resurrection of His Son, Our Savior, Jesus Christ, we rob God of the glory due to Him and the Gospel is minimized. Romans 8:1 tells us: There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Not because of all the great stuff weve done but because Christ has set us free from the law of sin and death. My sin in the past: is forgiven. My current struggles: are covered. My future failures: paid in full all by the infinite, overwhelming grace of God found in Jesus Christs work on the cross. My prayer is that all of our Sundays, as we gather to make much of Jesus Christ and maximize the Gospel, will magnify the glory of God. May we as Christ followers live out the Gospel as if its all weve got, because actually, the Gospel is all weve got! Also, I look forward to our upcoming sermon series Origins which will begin the first Sunday in September. So I ask you to be in prayer as we seek the Good News found in the pages of Genesis.
Every Sunday morning from 8:00am 8:45am, there will be intercessory prayer held in the Pastors office. Then, at 10:45 we have a prayer service, devoted to lifting up our hearts and prayers to the Lord. Come pray with us, as we lift up the ministries, the needs of our church and our community. Pray for those who are sick, in the hospital, or need prayers for their personal struggles.
