Punjab Employee Social Security Institution (PESSI) There are medical facilities available for the Government employees.

There are special Medical centers for these employees. PESSI works for those employees which are not of the government organization. It provide medical facilities to the employees of Independent(private) or semi government organizations whose pay is less than Rs. 10,000. In addition to medical facility it also help the employees by providing facilities other than medical facility eg. dowry, bicycle, stitching machine, or any necessary item to deserving employees. The employees get free treatment for minor to major disease. Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is working under the Ministry of Government but is an independent organization which is generating income by its own. PESSI: There are many big hospital of PESSI in many cities which are providing free medical facility to the employees of private and semi-government organization. One of PESSI's hospital in Lahore is Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital, Multan Road. There are many other hospitals in Lahore which are working for PESSI. These private and semi Government organizations include factories, mills, shoppes etc. They are responsible for submitting any specified amount to PESSI for free treatment of employees. WHAT TO PAY BY ORGANIZATIONS: These private and semi Government organizations (including LCCI) pay 6% of Rs. 7,000 contribution per employee to PESSI every month i.e. 6% of Rs. 7000 comes out to be Rs. 420. EMPLOYEES COVERED UNDER PESSI: PESSI covers those employees whose monthly salary is less than Rs. 10,000. These employees are provided such facility as they cannot afford the expenses of their medical treatment under such low income. HOW DOES PESSI WORKS: Lets suppose 10 organization having total employee of 100 ( 10 employees per organization )submit funds of their employees to PESSI. If only 2 employees out of 10 employees go for medical treatment to PESSI than the remaining 8 employees's contribution towards PESSI would be the source of income for PESSI. So in this case the income for PESSI would be of 80 employees contribution. ODP(Out Door Patient) Major hospitals are in specified location of specified cities for minor and major disease. For minor disease there are dispensaries situated near places. These dispensaries contain qualified doctors, staff, proper equipment etc. for better medical facility. The employees of private and semi Government organizations (including LCCI) get free treatment out of these dispensaries. HOW THE EMPLOYEE IS IDENTIFIED FOR FREE TREATMENT: A card is issued named (R-5) Social Security Registration Card
