Tutorial 01- Classification of mechanisms and mobility 1.

Determine the mobility of each kinematic chains given in the figures {Draw the sketch, identify the type of kinematic pair /joint, what are the DOF per pair, identify the number of links, identify how many lower and higher pairs, Calculate the mobility, comment on the mobility calculated, each student to solve minimum four question, not to choose in sequence }

Tutorial 01- Classification of mechanisms and mobility 2. Identify the number of linkages, no. of turning pairs, number of sliding pairs, number of Higher pairs (Half joints P2) and mobility of the system given in figures. Comment of the mobility. How many inputs are required to control the system and how are these inputs provided

3. Derive transmission angle of a four bar mechanism {each student to solve} 4. Draw a elliptical trammel and show by deriving equations how it generates an ellipse {each student to solve} 5. Draw (i) Davis steering gear (ii) Ackerman steering gear and derive fundamental equation of correct steering. {Theory of m/c by S S Rattan, chapter 6, each student to solve any one mechanism and derivation} 6. Draw and indicate how quick return is achieved in (i) Crank slotted link quick return mechanism (ii) whit worth quick return mechanism, (iii) Drag link mechanism (iv) offset cylinder mechanism { each student to solve one quick return mechanism} 7. Show how toggle mechanism toggles {derive equation , indicate the mechanical advantage at toggle position} 8. Draw a scotch Yoke mechanism and derive the displacement, velocity and acceleration produced and show this mechanism provides a simple harmonic motion. 9. Write a brief note on Hookes joint or Universal joint. { where it is used, output shaft angular velocity (no derivation),maximum shaft angle, what happens if the angle shaft angle is more] 10. Analyse mini drafter and show how X and Y scale always moves along horizontal and vertical direction 11. Analyse the mechanisms given below and comment of the mobility calculated using Grueblers criterion {Question no. 6-10 each student to solve minimum one question and the team to solve all questions}

How to submit Tutorial / Assignments for ME 203 MOM 1. 2. 3. 4. Team should solve all the questions, as far as possible each team member should have equal contribution. Follow specific instructions given in each questions Use only white A4 sheets Tutorial cover page should have following details, Tutorial title, submission due date, name of the team /group as indicated in Moodle (A to Z ), Team members roll number, name, problem solved by the member. 5. Each team (not individual students) should handover the tutorial to class representative (CR), CR has to hand over the tutorial to faculty chamber before the due date and time. Late submission is not permitted. 6. Plagiarism or any unethical conduct attracts a negative score 15 mark to the total score for the course (as per approved evaluation plan for ME203 MOM).
