The Proof That One Really Loves GOD : Six Tests

1 John 3:1-4:21

Purpose : 1. For us to know if we really love GOD.

2. For us to know if others really love GOD. Lot of people today are saying that they love GOD but sad to say and see that their living did not coincide to what they are professing!

Test 1 : Experiencing GODs Incredible Love ( 3 : 1-3). Test 2 : Turning Away From Sin and its Enslavement (3 : 4-9).

Test 3 : Being Marked By LOVE

LOVE helps us know if others really love GOD ( v. 10). The MESSAGE ( v.11) The DONTS of LOVE ( V.12-13) LOVE helps us know if we ourselves really love GOD ( v.14-17).

this is how we know

Two ways : 1. The person who does not do what is right. 2. the person who does not love his brother. Meaning if a person claims that he/she is a Christian or that he loves GOD : and does not read and study the Bible is not a child of GOD. And does not pray is not a child of GOD. And still living in sin or vices is not a child of GOD. Who disobeyed the command of GOD (John 14:15) Who does not live a holy life or a model life is not a child of GOD (James 1:26-27)

Mahimo lang tang dogmatic, hambugero, pilosopo, debatero ug relihiyoso. But if si CRISTO ang atong ipahari : mabag-o ang atong kinabuhi : mapuno kita sa pagpaningkamot nga ang uban modulo unta NIYA aron mabag-o usab dili nga maningkamot kita nga ang uban mobalik sa grupo o mobalhin sa atong relihiyon. To live a righteous is a proof that your life is marked by GODs love. Even if your religion is the first religion ever founded in this earth but if your life is not a blessing to others : it is still nothing (James 1:26-27) It will help us know who is our real sister and brother in the LORD. Love reveals our true nature. Love shows that one is either a child of GOD or of the devil. Therefore our lives reveals exactly whose child we are. Kumusta ang ilang kinabuhi? II.

The MESSAGE. (V.11)

Our message would be not who is the best religion but who loves you much? Our message would be : JESUS loves you not how good our pastor or our religion! In other words we have to tell people that JESUS loves them. Not to criticize other religion but to emphasize the love of GOD. Our theme is LOVE : JESUS not religion! The message of the CROSS is the message of GODs great love! And to love one another is a great evidence of that great love ruled over us! (John 13:34-35)

III.

The Donts of LOVE. (12-13) two donts atong Makita :

1. Do not be like Cain - murdered his own brother. (baliwala niya if iyang igsoon masakitan)

2. Do not be surprised if the world hates you. (if lutoson, bugalbugalan, suko) John 15:18-19

IV.

LOVE helps us Know if we Ourselves really love GOD (V.14-17).

we know If we love our brother : lay down your life for your brother (v.16) What is love ? CHRIST laid down his life for us (v.16). Illustration : v.17 HELP YOUR BROTHER WHO IS IN NEED a brother who cannot repay you back or cannot give you back that is what John is telling us! Because sometimes we help those people who can help us back or can give us back. Meaning we help because it is GODs command. We help because we love GOD. WE help because it is GODs joy and it is the attitude of a person whose life was ruled by GODs love or by CHRIST! Therefore let us learn to love people and use things not love things and use people! Do we truly love GOD? If yes, do you help your brother who is in need?
