How the challenge will be run This challenge will be a WIP (Work in Progress) Challenge.

Each challenger is required to submit Work In Progress (WIP) images, from the initial concept sketch to wire frame models, texturing in progress all the way to the final render (for 3D) and final colored piece (for 2D). The purpose is that everyone can learn from each other, offer feedback and critiques. Enter the Challenge by subscribing to www.animationcarnival.com Submit your work in progress images at contest@animationcarnival.com on a regular basis. Submit your final entry in April 24 Deliverables Each challenger is required to submit images for the following milestones: Concept Sketch - JPG (online) Modeling - JPG (online) Texturing - JPG (online) Lighting - JPG (online) Rendering - JPG (online) Post Effects and Compositing, JPG (online) Final Image - JPG (online) Model in final zip set along with psd file Any challenger that does not submit the above images will not be considered for final judging. Note: - All submissions will be in JPG format only with the exception of the final file. No image with WATER MARK will entertained. Your final image dimensions should be print resolution (as large as you can possibly render). Do not send in a low-resolution placeholder and ask us to get back to you, (minimum size is 1k i.e. 1000 + x 1000 +) DO NOT up sample your images to achieve higher resolution. If you cannot reach the desired full-page resolution, just send in what you have. Judging the contest The contest will be judged in two parts. The top 50% of the public vote will be taken to a private jury who will select the final winners. Anyone can enter the CG Contest. Its free of charge. Pre-fabricated models are not allowed to be used. These include parametric models generated from Poser or Daz3D. You can enter the two categories simultaneously, but you cannot enter images with the same concept/subject matter in both. Each must be a distinctly different piece. The Challenge starts March 23 and will run until April 24 Midnight GMT. Animation Carnival and its partners may use artwork for marketing purposes and will clearly credit the artist. No artwork will be used in any fashion without credit given to the artist. No artwork will knowingly be sold, in whole or in part, by the sponsors. The artist is allowed to use the images created for personal promotion. E.g. submission for Facebook and other galleries. Individual entrants only. All entries should be original and not a derivative of existing work, including works previously entered in this / other online / magazine competition. Entrants are not permitted to enter works on behalf of any other individual or entity. Judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. Lighting & texturing contest Submit unwrapped image of texture Submit reference image Terms &conditions for modeling : Final beauty render - fully posed character. Model sheet - showing front, back, side and 3/4 view of your final modeled and painted

character At least 3 WIP of character being sculpted in Mudbox / Z-brush You may use any software you like to create the base mesh, and any 2D software (ex: Adobe Photoshop) for finishing touches and backgrounds. Please disclose in your work-in-progress uploads what software you are using for each step. Terms &conditions for Rigging : Deformations must look good, no pinching or visible penetration (even if any part covers it). Tow car must have both automated and manual controls which gives animator full control over the animation Terms &conditions for Concept Art : Scan and submit the artwork If prepared on Photoshop send psd file and Jpg file. Marking Total marks will be calculated in from 100 for WIP, concept, detailing and posing (25 in each). We reduce the submission of WIP from 3 in a week to 2 in a week (more is better). Contest theme Organic Modeling warrior King with all his props (helmet, dress, sword, javelin, shoes, chest guard, arm guard, shield, and other material required by a warrior king). You have to set the king in t-pose and render it . the final render will be in pose that will be of your choice, in which pose you like to put your king in. Inorganic Modeling Chariot for warrior king which can assemble 4 horses at at time. Should have space for the Campaign in front (driver in easy words). Stand two warriors at a time. Can be driven at night. Make sure that you are placing space for 4 horses. Concept Art you have to design a concept of an old house of 100 years B.C. This house must be minimum two storied. You must have to prepare the surroundings. Rigging you have to rig a toon tow car. This car has maximum possibilities and you have no limits. You are not allowing to ad or subtract any part of the model. The rigging will be done on the base of toon car shown in cars movie. Texturing and Lighting as you know lighting is not an individual segment so you must have to do the texturing first. You can texture anything you want but the lighting must be in two different time segment, one is days time between 1pm to 3pm and second will be full moon night with interior lighting.
