To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Basti Karma, Agni

Karma on Gridhrasi, on the basis at the above principle.

30 patients were selected and divided into 3 groups A, B & C and

managed by Vaitarana Basti (Chakradatta 73/32), Agni Karma & both
Basti & Agni Karma respectively.
Period of administration 30 days
It was found that (1)

In clinical study the most successful (59.74%) group was

group C which was managed by both Basti Karma and Agni
Karma i.e. both sthana oriented and dusya oriented
approach.

(2)

The group A which was managed by the sthana oriented

therapy i.e. by Agni Karma was 36.36% successful.

(3)

Group B which was managed by the dusya oriented therapy

i.e. by Agni Karma was 33.33% successful which was the
least successful.
The highest result obtained by group C shows that Caraka's

principle is true. But neither Basti Karma nor Agni Karma is a

treatment for Gridhrasi roga. In Gridhrasi a multiphase approach
of both dosa oriented and sthana oriented treatment is necessary.

To assess the efficacy and mode of action of Varnya

Mahakashaya in Prabha.
Researchwork has been completed in two parts namely.

1-

Literary work : Planned to review all ayurvedic texts and

allied literature with modern literature.

2-

Clinical study : Group A : Internal medicine Varnya

Mahakashaya in the form of kwatha (Charak samhita, Sutra

4/10) 20 ml twice a day. The treatment was given upto 5

weeks.
Group B : Internal and external medicine Varnya
Mahakashaya in the form kwatha and as well as lepa.
In 'A' group treated with internal medicine 58.33% patients
were markedly improved and 25% patients were improved, only 2
patients remained unchanged.
In 'B' group treated with internal and external medicine
23.07% patients were cured, 38.48% patients were markedly
improved, 38.48% patients were improved.
Overall satisfactory results were obtained.

The object of this research is to study the emergence of ayurved

and its future prospects. Different committees and policies about
ayurveda and administrative structure in different status hospital + man
power in ayurveda and budget + expenditure.
This study is planned to review all the journals of ISM&H and
policies of Govt. to assess the development in ayurveda at different
times. Also reviewed all ayurvedic texts and allied literature along with
modern literature.
From the research work it was derived that :
-

Government should increase budget allocation to AYUSH

department.

To make totally research oriented institution.

Teaching of ayurveda must be in sanskrit and english not in

regional language.
