Installation Instructions
Switch off balance! Connect the data input of the S-P Converter - 20 pin flat cable plug - with the data output of the balance. The 50 pin amphenol socket of the S-P Converter is for connection to data processing Systems. The 5 pin tuchel socket of the S-P Converter is used for releasing the PRINT and/or TARE command. The foot pedal 7123 or the hand switch 7126 can be connected to these sockets. pin assignment of the 5 pin tuchel socket

Front view PIN 1: GND 2: GND (shielding) 3: Print 4: GND 5: Tara

In case the TARE or PRINT command is to be generated externally, pin 2 and pin 3 (print) or pin 4 and pin 5 (tare) of the appropriate socket have to be bridged (wiping contact). Connect unit to power source only after all connections have been made and the desired operating mode is wired (see the following paragraph "Description of the DATA-OUTPUT"). Switch on the complete System in the following sequence: 1. Balance 2. S-P Converter

Operating Instructions
Description of the Data Output Data traffic between S-P converter and data receiver in the handshake mode. In principle, the data traffic between the S-P Converter and the data receiver is regulated by the Signals "data ready", "data accepted", and in part by the signal "interrogation command". The data can be called either by pressing the print switch (cat. no. 7123 = foot pedal, 7126 = hand switch) connected to the S-P Converter, or with the signal interrogation command from the data receiver. When the balance has reached stability and is in the electric measuring range, the balance indicates with signal "data ready" or "data ready" that data are ready for transfer. These data can then be accepted by the data receiver. When the weighing system has not reached stability, the print command or the interrogation command is stored until stability has been reached. The data receiver must acknowledge data acceptance with the signal "data accepted" or "data accepted". After a period of 20 s after the end of signal "data accepted" or "data accepted", the next measuring value can be called or the "data ready" (data ready) signal can be read again. Balances with a Standard program produce the "data ready" or "data ready" signal only when the weighing system has reached stability and is in the electric measuring range. For certain applications, e.g. filling procedures, data Output is required even when the balance cannot fulfil the stability condition. In this case another prom (74S288) has to be installed into the balance by one of our service technicians. Data Output without Handshake When the balance is operated in connection with data-input or data-print or with a special program, the constants 0 . . . F (hex-code) which are defined in the program can be released. Output is valid with dock C = High (pin 13). In this case it is necessary to dose the soldering bridge dock C and to open the soldering bridge dock on the printed circuit board. The dialog Signals "interrogation command" and "data accepted" are not required. Data can be accepted when the signal "data ready" or "data ready" appears. The signal "data ready" or "data ready" is available for 2OO ms. During this time the data are stored at the Output.

Selection of the Output Format In addition to the operating mode (handshake or automatic data release) the output format must be selected according to the data receiver. a) Data format, 8 or 10 decades, with handshake Close soldering bridge F0: Data ready = high Data accepted = high Close soldering bridge F1: Data ready = high Data accepted = low Close soldering bridge F2: Data ready = low Data accepted = high Close soldering bridge F3: Data ready = low Data accepted = low

b)

Data format, 8 or 10 decades, without Handshake Close soldering bridge F4: Data ready = high, indicates that data are valid Data ready = low, when data are read-in Close soldering bridge F5: Data ready = low, indicates that data are valid Data ready = high, when data are read-in

Note: Whether data are released only when the balance has reached stability or before the balance has reached stability is determined by the electronics of the balance (parameter prom or switch position).
