Painting: Landscape and Still Life

Achieving effective color and light doesnt have to be difficult. All medium (oil, acrylic, and watercolor) and all levels of painters are welcome to come explore. We will begin with the basics and discuss materials and equipment that make painting easier and fun. Each class will feature still life setups and landscape photos to work from. Landscape demonstration/discussion for the first half of the workshop, and still life during the second half. However, participants are welcome to work from their own photos/setups. Well begin with landscape theory: using values and how color changes with distance. Well move on to using light and shade to create convincing volume, how transparency creates depth, and using grays to make visual space in the still life. Should that color be warm or cold? Thick or thin? Mixed with white or pure? Come prepared to paint on the first class. Critique last class. Odorless thinner only please ! Instructor: C.
