graded, with the exception of excused absences. However, all assignments must be completed in order to complete the class. Header (single spaced): Eph/Col Fall 2012 Assignment (i.e. Ephesians 1 Outline) First name Last name (i.e. John Smith) Due: Date (i.e. January 17, 2012) a. Notes: Before coming to class, students are to thoroughly read the notes for the upcoming session. A thorough reading of notes includes: noting main points, asking questions of the material, looking up Bible references, etc. Write down ideas and questions as you engage with the notes. The attendance sheet will have a column for students to sign, indicating that they have thoroughly read the notes for the upcoming session. (Notes for the upcoming session will be posted on the class website.) b. Notes Questions: While reading and engaging with the notes for the upcoming session, students should write down two critical thinking questions per page related to the material. For each page of notes, list two good questions. Email the list of questions to the TA prior to class. Credit will not be given for emails that arrive after the start of class. Each time new questions are submitted, put them in the body of the previously sent question email. That way, at the end of the quarter the TA will have all of the submitted questions in one email. c. Outline: Students will create an outline on each chapter of Ephesians and Colossians according to the schedule, regardless of missed or cancelled class. If a class is cancelled, turn in all assignments (including what was due when class was cancelled) at the following class. Follow the due dates on the chart below. Outline due dates are NOT subject to change. Outlines should be 1-2 pages double-spaced per chapter. While the outline need not have a cover page, the student should title each chapter and the outline should include 3-5 headings with verse references for each heading and sub point. Please write the headings and sub points in your own words. See example outline on the class website. d. Weekly One Page Papers: Students must write a one page paper each week. Paper should develop biblical ideas and main points. Weekly inductive papers are NOT reflections or journal assignments, and should not include any personal opinions. Please see paper descriptions attached. There are two separate descriptions for weekly papers. Follow instructions according to the week of class. 6. Final Exam: The final exam will be a guided written overview of Ephesians and Colossians. Students will have the two hours of class time on 10/11 to complete the exam. Notes, bibles, outlines, and weekly papers may be used on the exam. This is 20% of your final grade.
