Yellow Ribbon Program

Troy University has pledged to support military veterans and active-duty personnel attending college by providing the maximum tuition assistance allowed through a special program in the latest version of the G.I. Bill called the Yellow Ribbon Program. The Post-9/11 GI Bill or CH33 is a new education benefit program for individuals who served on active duty on or after September 11, 2001. The Post-9/11 GI Bill allows for a tuition and fee benefit to be paid directly to Troy University, a monthly stipend to the service member and a book stipend of up to a $1,000 per academic year. The University has pledged to close any gap between the benefits provided under the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 and the cost of tuition at Troy University by paying 50 percent of the established tuition and fee charges not already covered under the bill. A special provision of the bill establishes the Yellow Ribbon Program that allows colleges and universities to offer the tuition waiver. The Department of Veterans Affairs will match each additional dollar funded by the University. United States Reserves Forces Applicant requirements for Chapters 30, 32, 33, 34, 35 & 1606/1607 To top

Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges Troy University is an affiliate member of the Servicemembers' Opportunity College(SOC) network which was created in 1972 to provide educational opportunities to service members who, because they frequently moved from place to place, had trouble completing college degrees. Troy University will issue an SOC agreement for degree completion to any military student. Civil service and military dependents may request an SOC agreement. In order to obtain an SOC agreement, the student must have successfully completed six semester hours and met admissions requirements. The SOC contract will list all of the degree requirements required for graduation with Troy University. All coursework must be completed at regionally accredited colleges or universities or from acceptable non-traditional sources, if applicable. Students must complete degree requirements within eight calendar years after the SOC contract is approved. To top
