Topic 1: Understanding Addition For the next two weeks we will be focusing on addition to the number 20. We will be learning about number sentences and equations as well as solving number stories. We will have a Topic Test on Friday, August 31st. We will take this test together to help get the children used to the test structure and allow them to feel prepared and comfortable when the time comes for the Topic 2 Test. During the next two weeks I will be busy assessing the students for beginning of the year information on skills such as shape recognition, number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, writing numbers, and problem solving.

A note from Mrs. Teddy

t Welcome to 1st grade! The theme of last week was friendship. We talked about the importance of friends and the special qualities of a good friend. The children helped develop our classroom expectations and agreements so we can learn safely. Please take the time to ask your child about these and why they are important. We have been working hard learning our classroom procedures and routines.
