The allegations came to light when one of the boys told his mother, who then contacted police. ne of our founding fathers, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence and the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson once said, "the people get the government that they deserve." As we know it, Government is the means by which the federal, state or city policy is developed and enforced, as well as the mechanism for determining public policies. We elect our politicians through a democratic process of one-man one vote. With minor exceptions including clean criminal records, just about anybody could run for political office and take control of Government. After serving the people for more than two decades at both the state and city levels, ex-city councilman Larry Seabrook was recently convicted of funneling $1.5 million in city funds to his own accounts, family and mistress. Seabrook has been among the growing list of politicians who State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has been aggressively pursuing

as they siphon money for themselves, friends and family from nonprofit agencies supposed to help the neediest communities. We welcome the strategy of these prosecutors to target elected officials and their cronies who use nonprofit agencies as their own personal piggy banks, exposing a shocking level of wrongdoing. While I respect Thomas Jefferson, I dont agree with him that the people get the government that they deserve." For example, the hardworking taxpayers and law-abiding citizens of the Bronx who voted for Seabrook were not aware of his dishonest behavior. On the surface, Seabrook is very personable and always seems to be looking out for people. He appears to be a very conscientious man to most people who have been voting for him over the years. Ten years ago, I am sure we could not have predicted that Seabrook would be convicted for fraud and corruption.

It would appear that Seabrook has changed his behavior from the trustworthy politician that people perceived he was. The people have no way of knowing the state of mind of their nice guy. We did not carry out any psychometric tests to objectively measure aspects of his mental ability or personality. With over 70% of the world's employers using aptitude tests as part of their recruitment and promotion decisions, they are reaping successes with more professional staff. However, as people and voters we should be more careful in our selection of political leaders. I must admit, its very difficult for us to know the wolves in sheep clothing. The Democratic and the Republican parties could therefore assist us by subjecting all their candidates to psychometric tests as they will in most cases determine our choice of candidates. How many of our current politicians could past the psychometric tests?

here is an old, unwritten rule that states that A man wants a lady in the streets and a whore in the bedroom. This may not be the case for most men, but I am inclined to believe that this is true. However, how is this accomplished by women wearing Granny Panties and Head Ties to bed, especially during marriage? Effective as they may be to keep your weave intact and your rear warm, most men are turned off by this look, and often long for the good ole days of seeing you at your finest. Why is it that in order to get a man, to snag him into our folds, we work hard to get him, but do not work hard to keep him? Does it not benefit everyone to keep your man happy and still attracted to you physically? Many women, not all of course, wear thongs, sexy lingerie, perfume and nothing but stilettos in order to get the man of their dreams to notice them, but do nothing to keep him! These bad habits undeniably contribute to the infrequency of sex during marriage. Up to 48 percent of women, when polled, admitted to faking an orgasm! Some women also view sex as a duty, and refuse to make love to their mates unless forced to. Should wives not be vamping it up in the bedrooms, swinging on the chandeliers or stripper poles, and whipping out the whipped cream, in order to keep their husbands satisfied? He has after all, Put a ring on it, like Beyonce sings, so give him the prize. Her H.O.V.A. or JZ is surely getting his! He deserves it! Have you seen Beyonces rock? Men, from all walks of life complain daily about their mistreatment as they call it, at home. Loren, a very dear friend of mine, often complains to me about his wifes lack of affection towards him, sexually and otherwise. I am held captive in his Nutrition store at least once a week, like a mouse caught in a trap, quietly observing as he rants and raves to my listening ear. He really needs a psychiatrists chair in his shop, as I am seriously contemplating charging him for my time well spent. Sandy, yu know that the last time that we

All Granny Panties Should be Banned

However, I am his friend so I decided to ask, Have you ever tried couples counseling or a couples retreat? I love gossip as much as the next woman, but picturing Loren banging his wife was indeed a turnoff, as I knew them both very well. But of course, I sat through the punishment and tried not to envision them in the act. His bald head, pale white skin and her slinky black legs and long curly weave was too much for my poor little brain to process in one sitting! I needed alcohol at this point! Many women however will defend Lorens wifes actions and admit to doing the same. Who hav time fi mek love Sandy? Me dont even have time to even scratch me head, a girlfriend once complained to me. Can we then only blame our men for cheating? Do we not play a role in it, sometimes?

had sex was 3 months ago, and she will not approach me unless I insist on it?, he said in his broken patois. Poor thing! I realized that he needed a shoulder to cry on and so I listened intently, while loudly sucking on his blend of protein shake, made with rich strawberries and almost ripe bananas. Surprised, and certainly at a loss for words I replied, Loren, I am sure that if you talk to her, she will come around, I said. Will I never learn? There goes my favorite show on television that I wanted to watch in about an hour or so, as I knew that once I sat down, Loren would never shut up! Again!

Men are visual creatures; give them something at home to look at constantly and it might make a difference in your relationship. Of course sex is not the most important component in a marriage, but it is still a very important part of a relationship. Ladies, you should also remember that whatever you will not do for your man, another woman will. I guarantee you that Matey, as we lovingly call the girl on the side, has her thongs and stilettos stashed away neatly in her chest of drawers, waiting for your man to come over! Outsmart her by wearing your thongs and stilettos to bed, as he chose you to be his wife! Who knows, you might learn a thing or two about your mans likes and dislikes, and that of course is a good thing.

Brooklyn: New York registered sex offender, James Godwin, 59, was arrested on Wednesday (August 22) for using an Internet chat room to arrange a date with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl, but who was actually a Detective Investigator with the Brooklyn District Attorneys Office. It is my duty to see that sexual predators and perverts who troll the internet looking to exploit children will be brought to justice, said District Attorney Hynes. Thankfully my Detective Investigators stopped Godwins illicit plot. The defendant, a resident of Staten Island, is charged with engaging in three sexually explicit chats with the undercover detective, between January and today. In those chats, Godwin, a registered sex offender, with a previous conviction for possessing child pornography, is charged with describing detailed sexual acts he wanted to engage in with the undercover detective, whom he believed was a 13-year-old girl. The defendant is charged with arranging to meet the undercover, at an address in Brooklyn, where he believed she lived. When he was arrested, by Kings County Detective Investigators, he had a package of condoms, which the charges indicate he told the undercover officer that he would bring, when she told him she was afraid of getting pregnant. Godwin is charged with Attempted Rape in the Second Degree, Attempted Criminal Sexual Act in the Second Degree, and Three Counts of Attempted Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the First Degree. The case is being prosecuted by Kevin ODonnell. Rhonnie Jaus is Chief of the Sex Crimes/Crimes Against Children Division.

investment programs and access to hedge funds that were supposedly willing to lease millions of dollars in exchange for a fee. The defendants falsified bank records to make it look like the investment company had $100 million in assets. Specifically, the defendants defrauded an investor by inducing him to invest $5 million to lease or obtain a credit line of $100 million, which in turn would enable him to generate millions of dollars in profit through these special investment programs.

There were other incidents of unwelcome touching and Lopez required the staffers to write to him about how much they loved their jobs and cared about him, according to an investigation by the Assembly ethics committee. Lopez was removed as chair of the Assembly housing committee, barred from having interns or employees under the age of 21 and is required to take sexual harassment training classes. However, Brooklyn Democratic District Leader Lincoln Restler is calling on Lopez to resign his post. As an elected leader in Brooklyn, as a leader within the Brooklyn Democratic party, I call for his immediate resignation and I ask that every elected official in Brooklyn join me in that effort, Restler said.

The defendants convinced the investor to make the investment through false assurances that the investor's funds would be held in an attorney escrow account pending confirmation of the posting of $100 million in the leased-funds account. Contrary to their representations, however, the defendants simply distributed the investor's $5 million among themselves and their coconspirators shortly after it was deposited into Bardey's purported escrow account.

Negril, Jamaica: n August 10, 2012, Leshawn Grant, a beautiful and talented eighteen year old young woman and only child of Carol Hayle lost her life tragically, the result of a reckless car accident in Negril, Jamaica WI. Leshawn left work at Travellers Beach Resort about 5:10 p.m. and as she walked towards downtown Negril she was hit by a speeding car driven by a man from Montego Bay who was speeding to catch a cambio before it closed, according to eye witnesses. Leshawn worked in the capacity of an Intern front desk receptionist at Travellers Beach Resort for only four days; she was well regarded by all and as a matter of fact, treated as a daughter to Winston Wellington, Chairman of the Negril International Hospital and Wellness Centre. After she sustained such horrific battering that caused severe lacerations to her face and skull, bleeding profusely. Wellington who is also General Manager of Travellers Beach Resort said she never had the opportunity to be saved because there was no emergency vehicle to take her to the hospital. The police showedup twenty minutes later and took her to the Savanna-la-Mar hospital, approximately 45 minutes away. At the Chamber of Commerce meeting held Tuesday (August 14) Wellington expressed the motion to schedule a stakeholders meeting and invite the media to address the lack of a working ambulance in the tourist resort of Negril. At the meeting, the Negril community asked that Leshawns death be not in vain, but be used as a sacrifice that unites stakeholders to demand a nearby medical facility, emergency vehicles and proper road codes to protect its citizens and visitors. The ambulance in question was stationed at the Negril Fire Station for over a month, unlicensed and unregistered at the time of Leshawns death. After a CVM television report aired on Thursday August 16, conveying the dire consequences of not having this ambulance on the road, Dr. Wickham McNeil, Member of Parliament Western Westmoreland and Minister of Tourism and Entertainment for Jamaica, reportedly had the ambulance licensed and registered within 24 hours of the news report airing. Only if this had been just 7 days earlier, who knows what could have been. Funeral arrangements for Leshawn Grant, is being planned for September 2, 2012 at the Sheffield Seventh Day Adventist Church. The following was published in Bloomberg View on August 13, 2012. lections are inevitably about identifying differences between candidates and parties. To improve the quality of government, however, elections must also highlight areas of consensus where both parties, regardless of who comes out on top, can move the nation forward. Immigration reform is probably the most important issue in the U.S. on which such a consensus exists. Yes, immigration is contentious. Republicans and Democrats disagree with each other (and among themselves) on the direction of comprehensive immigration reform. But on a host of significant immigration policies, Republicans, Democrats and the American people understand the pressing need for change. Those areas of agreement are where our immediate focus should be. Economists, mayors and business leaders understand that immigration is a crucial economic issue, especially now. In fact, reforming a broken immigration system is the single most important step the federal government could take to bolster the economy. In good times and bad, immigrants are dreamers and risk- takers. More than 40 percent of Fortune 500 companies were founded by an immigrant or the child of one. A Kauffman Foundation study found that immigrants were more than twice as likely as native-born Americans to start a new business in 2010. (Today, the Partnership for a New American Economy, an organization I help lead, releases a report, Open for Business, confirming that was true in 2011, as well.) Similarly, a recent study by the American Enterprise Institute and the Partnership for a New American Economy found that high-skills immigrants not only contribute to productivity, they also generate jobs. Among those employed in STEM fields -- science, technology, engineering, math -- a foreign-born worker with an advanced

great. Singapores foreign-born population has quadrupled in the past two decades, and even nations such as Germany, with a history of restrictive immigration policies, have eased them in response to global competition. What can we do? For starters, we must demand that the presidential candidates and their surrogates stop using immigration as a prod to excite their respective bases and begin treating it as the serious economic issue it is. Neither Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney offers more than lip service about immigrations role in the economy. Thats inexcusable. Today, Im meeting in Chicago with former White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley and in Boston with News Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rupert Murdoch to discuss ways we can push the immigration agenda forward. If Bill and Rupert can find common ground -- and they can -theres no reason Democrats and Republicans in Washington should remain burrowed into their partisan foxholes. A platform for reform exists, with many members of each party prepared to sign on. First, provide green cards to foreign students earning graduate degrees in STEM fields. We need these job creators here in the U.S., not taking their U.S. educations to other markets. Second, increase the percentage of green cards awarded on the basis of economic needs -- 7 percent is vastly too small. Third, create a visa specifically for entrepreneurs. If they succeed and create jobs, they should earn a green card. Fourth, devise a guest-worker program for seasonal and labor-intensive industries. Farmers in Alabama and Georgia have seen their crops rot in the field because of state legislative and enforcement efforts to drive illegal immigrants away.

Communities as diverse as New York City and Lewiston, Maine, and Perry, Iowa, have been reinvigorated by immigrant entrepreneurs who opened businesses and revitalized neighborhoods. Standard & Poors found that cities with high immigration levels experience improvements in their credit ratings, tax bases and per-capita incomes. Yet while other nations are making powerful appeals to attract ambitious immigrants, the U.S. is stymied by outdated policies and politics. As a result, we are falling behind in the global competition for talent. In Spain, South Korea and Switzerland, more than three- quarters of immigrant visas are awarded on the basis of employment. By contrast, only 7 percent of U.S. green cards have an economic rationale. Canada, with little more than one-tenth the population of the U.S., provides more employmentbased visas than we do. Australia, with an even smaller fraction of our population, issues almost as many as the U.S. The U.S. cannot retain its global leadership with self- defeating immigration policies. 12 STREET HYPE AUGUST 19-31, 2012

Street Hype's publisher, Patrick Maitland, sat down with the former Consul General, Dr. Geneive Brown Metzger, six months after she demitted office to catch up with the New Yorker on the next chapter in her career.

Q: So, Consul General, let me first thank you for your service to the Jamaican community over the last 4 years. I run into folks often who speak of your transformational leadership as Consul General and your many accomplishments while in office. And, congratulations on receiving an honorary doctorate of laws from the University of Technology, Jamaica for your work in sport development in Jamaica. A:Thank you, Patrick. It was truly an honour to serve my homeland. I was on a mission when I accepted the position and while, there are somethings that I would have changed, in the main, I am pleased with what I was able to achieve.

Renouncing My US Citizenship was a huge decision; but I have no regrets!

the Jamaican constitution precludes a US citizen from holding the position. Undeniably, renouncing was a huge decision; but I have no regrets. I have since regained legal immigration status since I intend to remain a resident of the US. This is a great country and an important friend of Jamaica. Q: It's been almost six months since you left office. What have you been up to and what is the next chapter of your life?

Catching Up With The Former Jamaican Consul General:

and on and on. So, in the end, countries of origin are gaining from their nationals who have migrated.

A:You mentioned some of them. I am proudest of my work in diaspora engagement. I tried to rise above what was at times bickering among the diaspora leadership, and focus on strategies that empowered our community, building new key strategic relationships that would redound to our community, leveraging old relationships in order to optimize benefits to the community, and of course, identifying investors. Operationally, I am proud of our customer service-driven approach to our nationals who are also our customers. I would also have to mention developing the database and making it possible to electronically join the mailing list by going to the Consulate website (www.congenjamaica-ny.org), which you can still do. Q: Are you in touch with the new Consul General?

Q: You hosted many events over the years at the Consulate, many of which were new and innovative, such as the series of conversations with Consuls General from India and Ireland on diaspora best practices, and the investment forum with Bloomberg. What are you proudest of?

A: I took much needed time off, of course. I will continue with a couple of key engagements which I begun as Consul General that are of ongoing interest to me. Broadly speaking, diasporas and their potential to be transformational partners in development is fascinating. I will continue to be immersed in the broad discourse and to be part of diaspora thought leadership on the global level. I served on the USAID/Migration Policy Institute think tank on diaspora engagement which led to Secretary Clinton's inaugural US diaspora conference in 2011. I am also associated with the book, Diasporas: New Partners in Global Development Policy, published by USAID/MPI, and in addition, I contributed a section to the US Diaspora Conference Toolkit. I've met and shared ideas with folks from around the globe. So, I have learned a lot about this subject and believe I have something to contribute. I was asked to be a guest blogger leading up to the second US diaspora conference which occurred this past July. The blog challenged the notion of brain drain and this salient point made its way into Secretary Clinton's opening remarks at the July conference. A: What is your view on brain drain?

Q: So, are you advocating for Jamaican migration? Of course not. I am saying that a significant number of us who choose to live overseas, are committed to helping back home. You know, that's one thing you can say about Jamaicanswe never leave home despite how far away our current address might be. The diaspora is a tremendous network of enormous potential and we are just only now beginning to understand it. The United States government obviously is on to the potential of diaspora and I applaud Secretary Clinton for putting it on the U.S. priority foreign policy agenda. In fact, the State Department has declared that U.S. foreign policy will be conducted through the diaspora gateway.

What are some of the other things we can expect to hear about from you? A: I have become a blogger. It began when I was asked to do a blog for the US Diaspora Caribbean IdEAMarketplace. I have another piece which I expect will be posted on the site by the time this article runs. In addition, I have committed to other pieces, as well. The current blog is about new technology in developing economies and the role of diaspora in both driving new technology innovation and utilizing it. I will also be launching my own blog very soon. But I don't want to say too much more about that at the moment.

Q: I know that you are an award winning marketing consultant. Will you be going back into that business?

A: Yes. There were actually two reasons why I had to renounce in order to accept the position. First, the Consul General position is a diplomatic appointment that comes with US diplomatic immunity...and the US does not confer diplomatic immunity on its citizens. Secondly,

Q: I had heard that you had to renounce your US citizenship in order to be Consul General.

A: Absolutely. Consul General Herman LaMont is a seasoned career foreign service officer with whom I worked while I was in office. He was my go-to person on diaspora matters and very helpful to and supportive. He has my prayers and support.

A:Well, we, especially in developing countries have been concerned that we are losing our brightest people to developed economies and this argument was justifiable for a time. However, I don't believe it stands today. The fact is that developing countries benefit significantly from their diaspora communities. We all know about the huge remittance flows (some US$2 billion) from the Jamaican diaspora, US$440 billion worldwide, of which US$325 billion went to developing countries. But not only do diasporas send money home to help out family and friends, they repatriate their skills by way of missions, engage in entrepreneurship, send home supplies of all types, buy second homes in their homelands, drive foreign direct investment to their native countries,

A: Everything in one way another is about marketing, isn't it?. I agree with the famous economist Peter Drucker who said, Business has only two functions...marketing and

innovation. So, I will always be marketing. What I'll be adding to my career equation is innovation. For that, I will supporting young entrepreneurs focused on new technology innovation. This is so critical to the region's development in terms of job creation, solving social issues and helping the region become and remain competitive. More needs to be done to support these young entrepreneurs and I will use my contacts in Silicon Valley and in business to help these young people. Q: I would be remiss if I didn't ask

DR. GENEIVE BROWN METZGER FORMER JAMAICAN CONSUL GENERAL -NEW YORK

A: I can honestly say that I have no plans at all to work in government. I am really having great fun in the private sector and particularly, in being an entrepreneur, as I always have. I love the creativity, the ability to bring new ideas to market, and the freedom to be nimble in and responsive to the marketplace. I am an entrepreneur by nature. This is how best I can serve my homeland.

This represents the largest single-year rise in 15 years, according to a report just released by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR). For 10-to-14-year-old females, the rate increased from 0.54 per 100,000 in 2003 to 0.95 per 100,000 in 2004 For 15-to-19 year-old females the rate increased from 2.66 to 3.52 per 100,000 For 15-to-19 year-old males, the rate increased from 11.61 to 12.65 per 100,000 Prior to 2003, the rates for all three groups were generally decreasing. mon method of suicide among girls. For boys and young men, firearms are still the most common method. It is important for parents to recognize the warning signs of suicide in youth. Parents and caregivers should look for changes in behavior such as talking about taking one's life, and feeling sad or hopeless about the future. Also look for changes in eating or sleeping habits and even losing the desire to take part in favorite activities. A recent CDC survey of youth in grades 9 to 12 in public and private schools in the United States found that 17 percent reported seriously considering suicide, 13 percent reported creating a plan and 8 percent reported trying to take their own life in the 12 months preceding the survey. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 Jan. 19): Other people are depending on you and the pressure is palpable today. Escape might sound like a good idea, but you know that you cannot quit before the job is done.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22Dec. 21): You're no stranger to living in the future since you often aim your arrows of thought toward the next possible adventure. However, you must bring your big ideas down to earth today or you might face disappointment later on.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23Nov. 21): There's a lot you're not saying today, but then again, you may not be aware that something is still missing from the picture.

LIBRA (Sept. 23 Oct.22): It's time to get down to business so you can finish what you already started. But if you catch yourself daydreaming today, gently pull your thoughts back to the present moment.

VIRGO (Aug. 23Sept. 22): It's time to think about new ways to accomplish your goals now because the old methods may be growing stale. It's helpful to take a few deep breaths before you act so you can think about what's most important to you.

LEO (Jul. 23 Aug. 22): Being fair and objective takes some mental effort, but is well worth it. The alternative is to rely on your charm, but this strategy will likely leave you short of your goal.

CANCER (Jun. 21 Jul. 22): The problem is that the speed of events in your immediate surroundings might accelerate to an unsustainable pace. Fortunately, your analytical skills help you juggle the various parts of your life.

GEMINI (May 21June 20): You are probably more stressed by the information in your life now than by the company you keep. Nevertheless, it's crucial to set priorities and decide which data is the most useful.

TAURUS (Apr. 20 May 20): The month ahead can bring you several significant realizations about your relationships. Fortunately, you don't need to be concerned about success versus failure.

ARIES (Mar. 21 Apr. 19): The good news is that you are willing to soften your hard edges now. Your uncharacteristic gentleness enables you to meet others halfway. In turn, this sensitivity allows you to avoid unnecessary conflict.

We need $5 M to purchase two Linear Accelerator Machines for Jamaica

An Urgent Appeal

Eating sugar has also been indicated in raising bad cholesterol while lowering good cholesterol. Weight gain is indicated in hardening of the arteries which directly contributes to heart disease. Further, sugar definitely plays a role in developing some types of diabetes. Sugar, particularly that in fruit juice, is also known to cause tooth decay. Consumption may also make one more likely to suffer from gum disease. Thus vigorous brushing of the teeth should always follow consumption of sugar. It is though that sugar plays a role in how we behave as well. It has been suggested that excess may cause depression. It may also result in hyperactivity or mood swings as one drops from sugar highs to lows.

By Donna Lamb here's hardly a better way to show thankfulness for one's own budding success than to use it to help others succeed as well. That's what entrepreneur Tracy Bomani, founder of Bomani Jewels, feels, leading her to host a Beauty Showcase and Fashion Show in recently to highlight several other up and coming new vendors. The event was held at The Venue ENY, a charming little indoor/outdoor private catering space at 762 Schenk Ave in Queens. The Venue is often called East New York's best kept secret because of its offthe-beaten-path location, but, as attendees at the event can attest, there's nothing off about the "sophisticated soul food," served up by owner Valerie Hunter. After people had time to begin perusing the vendors' diverse offerings, Bomani Jewel's business manager, the extremely likable Cyril Silva, kicked off the fashion show and introduced Bomani. She thanked Elias Rivera, Bomani's graphic artist, and him for their hard work, declaring, "Without these two men, I would not have been able to pull this off." Bomani then provided all the necessary information about each complete outfit as the models strutted their stuff on the runway. The clothing was from Sophisticated Sister's Boutique which made good its promise that woman of all shapes, curves and sizes from XS to 3XL can look fabulous in its eye-catching, beautiful apparel, offered at amazingly affordable prices. The clothing was accessorized with unique and stylish jewelry from the Bomani Jewels collection, along with sleek, gorgeous handbags provided by independent Beijo fashion consultant,

Sarah Hudson. A young model also rocked one of Shamel's Malay Hair ponytails (917.685.1060) while others looked stunning in make-up applied by Mary Kay cosmetics representative Ann Harkless. Bomani herself styled each outfit, coordinating just the right dress, jewelry and handbag for a well put together trendy look, many of which elicited oohs and aahs when they hit the runway. Along with all the products to enhance a woman's outer beauty, there were vendors looking after a woman's inner peace and beauty. Nutritionist and wellness coach, Beverly Sapphire Wilson , an independent distributor for Soul Purpose, had products to promote harmony within all aspects of self - body, mind, and spirit - addressing a woman's entire lifestyle. "Knowing the elements of wellness helps you take where you are in your life and go to the next level," Ms. Wilson explained. Perhaps the most imaginative products on sale were the "unique gel candles that mystify the eyes, tantalize the senses, and calm the soul." These aromatherapy candles, fashioned to resemble enticing cocktails and mouthwatering ice cream sundaes, were the main product of Effervest Scents, founded by LaTisha Dyann Graham. "Most people are astonished when they see these are actually candles," Ms. Graham stated. "Their real purpose is to be lit, but some customers choose to just keep them for visual effect." The event, which was totally packed by early evening, got so many hits on Facebook that The Venue asked Bomani Jewels to hold another one on September 8.

t is through the Apostle Paul that the Holy Spirit gave the principle of Spiritual Adultery, which he deals with in the first four verses of the Seven Chapter of Romans. However, it must be noted that Paul derived this concept from the Lords dealings with His people in the Old Testament. The Scripture says, Moreover he (Jehoram) made high places in the mountains of Judah and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication and compelled Judah thereto (11 Chron. 21:11) Concerning Judah, the Holy Spirit through the Prophet Ezekiel said, You have also committed fornication with the Egyptians your neighbors, great of flesh; and have increased your whoredoms, to provoke Me to anger (Ezek. 16: 26, 29) Most of the time in the Old Testament when the Scripture speaks of adultery and fornication, it is speaking of idolatry. In other words, the Lord looked at Himself as Israels husband. He said through the prophet Isaiah. For your maker is your Husband; the Lord of Hosts is His Name; and your Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; the God of the whole Earth shall He be called (Isa. 54;5) The Lord, as Israels Husband, demanded faithfulness to Him, as should be obvious. So when Israel went into idolatry, in the Mind of God, Israel committed Spiritual Adultery or fornication against Him, which the LORD acted on according to (Jer. 3: 8 ) the Lord divorced Israel because of her idolatry, only after warning her time and time again, through Prophet after Prophet, until finally there was no other choice but for God to divorce her.

Spiritual Adultery In The Old Testament

By Rev. Dr. A, Roy Jacobs, Pastoral Counselor & Columnist iroy1470@yahoo.com

When the Lord divorced Israel, which He was forced to do because of their idolatrous lifestyle, He then married, one might say, the Church. Down the ages, Our Lord used the same principle regarding the marriage bond between husband and wife, as it regards divorce and remarriage. It has the same reference as it did between God and Israel of old. Here is the key that many of you are struggling with to open your own door of freedom, which I need you to get (if your marriage is dissolved for Scriptural grounds) then remarriage is scripturally allowed. Read (1 Cor. 7:15) (Math. 19:9) The simple fact is all innocent party of a marriage dissolved, whether husband or wife, is free to marry again. As you familiarize yourself with this Old Testament terminology: Spiritual Adultery you will understand that fallen man who continued to trust in things other than Jesus Christ and the Cross (11 Cor. 11: 2) is committing this sin. Reader, stop trusting in your works and self-efforts, which can only produce an (Ishmael) but trusting in JESUS will produce you and Isaac and everlasting life. ------------------------------------------------ Rev.
