We Help Cities
Breathe
With the most comprehensive bogie portfolio in the world, our BOMBARDIER* FLEXX bogies offer reliable and safe products for all market segments and types of rolling stock. We are the partners of choice for providing innovative solutions to meet transportation challenges around the globe.
Trams and Light Rail Vehicles are configured for ease of accessibility and convenience for the urban traveller. Specialist tram bogies enable these features through their compatibility with low floor levels. Particular attention is paid to maintenance aspects such as enabling long wheel lives as well as the impact on the environment e.g. minimized vibration and noise emissions even within tight curves.
Currently more than 20,000 FLEXX Metro Bogies are in service worldwide, which have accumulated over 30 billion km (Equivalent to 200 times the distance between the Earth and the Sun). Maximum vehicle capacity utilization with minimum energy consumption levels are enabled by light weight bogies. The railway infrastructure is often as varied as the cities they serve, therefore the bogie solutions have to reflect these distinctions, e.g adopting radial steering or inboard bearing designs. Metro bogies have to be reliable and robust in their design. Reliability is guaranteed by simplicity and the use of proven technology. Safety is enhanced through the use of special frame designs, i.e articulated or structurally flexible frames.

applications span a wide variety of requirements. The bogies are characterized by their minimized weight and minimized levels of rail wear. FLEXX Compact: optimum comfort and easy boarding through low floor configurations are a priority for regional applications FLEXX Eco: lowest unsprung mass for minimum track and wheel damage FLEXX Fit, FLEXX Load: bogies for various speed and axle loads specifically designed for trailer coaches FLEXX Link: superior ride quality and running stability for long distance trains FLEXX Speed: comfort and safety at very high speeds.
FLEXX Link High Speed train, China
High reliability, minimum vibrations and low noise emissions are key aspects when selecting the appropriate bogie solution.
are the power packs of the trains. The FLEXX Power Bogies have to be as robust and reliable as the locomotive that they support. Special attention is given to the proper structural configuration of the frames as they are highly stressed by the locomotives traction forces and the forces exerted by the integrated traction equipment. Different speed ranges require the appropriate drive system selection. In particular with high speed locomotives, the clever integration of the motors and the drives units into the bogie is a prerequisite for successful operation.
The FLEXX Power bogie family design is characterized by: Flexibility by adaptable wheelset guidance and coil spring suspension High tractive effort by low level traction link Low weight integrated welded frame design
We Care
for the Health of Your Bogies
The high bogie reliability and availability levels correspond to the needs of our customers to operate their trains effectively and economically. In order to maximize these parameters and to minimize maintenance costs we also offer our expertise and services to undertake bogie overhauls, repairs and upgrades. With our comprehensive service portfolio we are able to provide support within the following areas: Crash repairs Overhaul/inspection Fleet logistics: spare parts, FLEXX Rent (bogie rental), consignment stocks On-site customer service teams, engineering support (for example: re-engineering, specialist consultancy) Innovations like technical upgrades, track monitoring A satisfying service to our customers makes the difference!

Future
In order to overcome the limitations of conventional bogies with passive steering and suspension elements, a mechatronic bogie design has been developed. Mechatronics in the bogie provide unique new functionalities: Active radial steering (ARS) and bogie stabilization Active comfort improvement Tilting Intelligent condition monitoring Careful testing, safety analysis and certification guarantee that only proven design will be delivered. The first bogies equipped with FLEXX Tronic technology were tested on a BOMBARDIER* REGINA* train in cooperation with Swedish partner Bankverkert within the Green Train project. In July 2007, they set a new Swedish record of 282 km/h and passed a prerequisite test for certification and the upcoming service tests for 200 km/h.
