Email Troubleshooting This lesson tries to cover common troubleshooting of Outlook Express, Windows Mail, MS Outlook 2003 and

2007. Outlook Express Error Codes The following are the common error codes of Outlook Express. These error codes help to identify the problem.
0x800CCC00- Authentication did not load. Try restarting Outlook express. If same error, wait 20-30 minutes for a server reset then try again. It could be a corruption of the user account in Outlook Express. 0x800CCC01- Invalid certificate content Get certificate re-issued by authority server; 0x800CCC02- Invalid certificate date Get certificate re-issued by authority server. 0x800CCC03- User already connected. Close all connections on all machines wait 20-30 minutes and try again. 0x800CCC05- Not connected to e-mail server. You may have the wrong mail server in your account settings or the server may be down. Check that you are connected to the internet. 0x800CCC0A- Message downloads incomplete. Possible corruption of the pop3uidl file Close the Internet connection and all programs. Find the file 'pop3uidl' and delete it. Reboot and reconnect. Large file attachments, mail with missing headers or mail that does not conform to the mail RFC's can cause this. 0x800CCC0B- Server or mailbox is busy. User already connected. Close all connections on all machines wait 20-30 minutes and try again. 0x800CCC0D- Cannot locate e-mail server name. Do you have 'notify me if there are any new newsgroups' selected but don't have a news account set up? 0x800CCC0E- Cannot connect to e-mail server. 0x800CCC0F- Connection closed.

Not able to open link in OE mail User is not able to open links in mail. To fix this problem follow the step 1 if this does not fix the issue than continue to step 2. Step 1
1. Click Start, and then click Run 2. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK. 3. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.

Step 2 Register all the following files.

7. Click Start>Run>Type regsvr32 Shell32.dll>click ok

Importing messages from one identity to another When you need to import the messages from one identity to another identity than follow the following steps:

On the File menu, click Import, and then click Messages. Select "Microsoft Outlook Express 6" from the list and click next. Select the identity. Browse to the original Identity's store folder (Click Next). Select the folders to be imported and click next. When the import process is complete click Finish to close the import wizard.

Not able to open or save attachments in OE When you are not able to open or save the attachments from the mails you received in OE than do the following steps:
1. Click>Tools>Options>Security tab 2. Uncheck the box Do not allow attachments to opened or saved that could be
potentially a virus. 3. Click Apply and Ok.

How to import DBX files from a backup folder in Outlook Express Perform the following steps to import DBX files from backup folder.
1. Create a new folder in Outlook Express corresponding to the name of the DBX file
which you want to import Example- if you want to import Home Email.dbx from backup, you will need to create the DBX named as Home Email in Outlook Express

2. Create a test email and save it in the drafts folder 3. Move the test email from the drafts folder to the newly created folder created in
Outlook Express

4. Close the Outlook Express 5. Go to the Outlook Express Store location and rename Home Email.dbx to Home
Email.DBX. old

6. Copy the Home Email.dbx from the backup location to Outlook Express Store folder 7. Note: Home Email.dbx name is just a example, you will have to notice the DBX names
in the backup folder which contains the backup emails.
