Works with clients with all kinds of conditions. A health care processional licensed and regulated by the province or territory to carry out nursing techniques and client care. Can work both independently and as part of the health care team along an RN. Works with patients with stable and predictable outcomes. The legal limits and extent of a health care workers role. This will vary from province to province and employer to employer. Provide services to people who need help with their daily needs, both in facilities and in the community.

Chapter 3 Workplace Settings Terms: Community Day Program, Acute Care, Outpatient, Assisted-Living Facility, Retirement Residence, Palliative Care, Community-Based Services, Inpatient ________________!

Health care that is provided for a relatively short time (usually days to weeks) and is intended to diagnose and treat an immediate health issue. A residential facility where residents live in their own apartments and are provided support services. These services are increasingly provided to young and middle-aged adults, and are not limited to a majority of older adults. The health care and support services provided outside of a facility setting and in a community setting. A daytime community based program for people with physical or mental health issues or older adults who need assistance. A client who is assigned a bed and is admitted to stay in a facility overnight or longer. A client who does not stay overnight in a facility. Services for clients and their families living or dying from a progressive, lifethreatening illness. These services aim to relieve suffering and improve comfort, not cure the illness. A facility that provides accommodation and supervision for older adults.
