Neurological disorder in which the cells in certain parts of the brain are gradually destroyed. Causes tremors, muscle stiffness, slow movement, and poor balance. An inherited neurological disorder that causes uncontrolled movements, emotional disturbances, and cognitive losses. A persistent, slowly progressive disease, in which the bodys immune system attacks the protective myelin sheaths surrounding the nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord in a process called demyelination. This results in damaged areas that are unable to transmit nerve impulses. A degenerative disease characterized by loss of the motor neurons, with progressive weakness and atrophy of the muscles of the hands, forearms, and legs, spreading to involve most of the body and face. Also known as Lou Gehrigs Disease. Complete or partial loss of ability to move a limb or muscle group. Paralysis from the waist down. Paralysis of all four limbs and the trunk; paralysis from the neck down.

Disturbance in a persons ability to cope with or adjust to stress. Thinking, mood or behaviours are affected and functioning is impaired. Also known as mental health disorder, mental disorder, emotional illness, or psychiatric disorder. Keeping unpleasant of painful thoughts from the conscious mind. !

A group of mental health disorders in which anxiety is the main symptom. A mood disorder marked especially by sadness, inactivity, difculty with thinking and concentration, a signicant increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping, feelings of hopelessness, and sometimes suicidal thoughts. Eating disorders. Altered body image perceptions that lead to disturbances in eating behaviours and an abnormal concern with body weight and shape. An extremely complex mental health disorder characterized by delusions, hallucinations, disturbances in thinking, and withdrawal from social activity. The exact causes are currently unknown, but it is believe to be caused by a biochemical imbalance. Seeing, smelling, hearing, tasting, or feeling something that is not real.

The loss of a persons ability to remember, think, reason, understand, or live independently. A generic descriptive term meaning the inability of a person to think with the usual speed or clarity or to recall people, time or places.! The act or process of recollecting past experiences or events. A form of therapy designed to improve cognitive and psychomotor function in persons who are confused or disoriented. It is often used in long-term facilities or nursing homes with Alzheimers patients. ! Reminiscences that occur in old age as a consequence of the realization of the inevitability of death.

The part of the psyche that experiences and reacts to the outside world and thus mediated between primitive drives of the id and the demands of the social and physical environment. The part of the psyche that incorporates parental or community values and standards, acting as an inner check on behaviour and responding to social demands. The attribution of ones own attitudes, feelings, or suppositions to others.! According to the theories of Sigmund Freud, it is a psychological defense mechanism whereby one "projects" one's own undesirable thoughts, motivations, desires, feelings, basically parts of oneself onto someone else (usually another person).
