Title: Evaluation/Assessment of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Management program of Bulacan State UniversityMalolos to determine the

employability of its graduates. Assessment is the process of evaluating educational effectiveness by relating institutional program missions and goals to actual student performance for the primary purpose of enhancing learning. I. Introduction (Theory of Specialization-Adam Smith) A business major can get any job related to their course. But for assistant marketing manager position, what do employers prefer, a management graduate or a marketing management graduate? The one graduate of marketing management clearly has the advantage and likely be hired if specialization will be the basis, because it is their forte. And so is for human resource position, there is the program human resource management. Similar situation may occur where in expertise and specialization will be given much importance. So how will graduates of BSBA with a major in management compete with them? True! Specialization is important (explained by Adam Smith). Still, the graduates of BSBA major in Management can have the edge if they have the competencies and skill needed (employability skill). But what are these skills required in able to be an employable graduate? Bulacan State University, being a State University is expected to offer quality education at lower rates compared to other universities in the province. One of the courses it offered is the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Management. The Business Administration program covers the integrated approach and interrelationship among the functional areas of business as well as sensitivity to the economic, social, technological, legal and international environment in which business must operate (Commission on Higher Education, 2006). The course has several areas of concentration. As a result, as stated by Lau (2012), its curriculum can be compared to smorgasboard of different subjects.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, as specified on CHED Memorandum Order No. 39, Series of 2006, includes five major areas which are: Human Resource Development Management, Marketing Management, Financial Management, Operations Management and Business Economics. The five major areas were given descriptions and objectives, as well as the specific professions, careers, occupation or trades. In the five major areas, BSBA major in Management is not mentioned, so it is not given descriptions and specific career opportunities. According to eHow.com, business management is a field of study that explores how business is structured and managed (eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/about_6538132_businessmanagement-degree-description.html#ixzz21EKmQ6by). It is the process of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling an organization's human, financial, physical, and information resources to achieve organizational goals in an efficient manner and a manager is someone who is ultimately responsible for achieving results through the specialized efforts of other people, whether individually, in groups, or in organizations (Clarion University, 2008).This course tackled several areas - management, marketing, finance, accounting, taxation, human resource, among others as provided in the curriculum. The curriculum is designed to give students theoretical and practical knowledge about business operations, processes and systems (eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/about_6538132_business-management-degreedescription.html#ixzz21EKmQ6by). Students can take advantage of this situation. They are oriented in different areas of business, which gives them the opportunity to be placed in most areas in a firm. Being knowledgeable in different aspect of a business is necessary for a manager in able to make an effective and efficient decision. A business degree can give you access to variety of employment opportunities. On the other hand, some people perceived the course as Jack of all Trades, Master of None or broad. Students as oriented in many areas of business, but there are times that what students learned are only a small part of the different areas. There are many subjects that are being taught, but sometimes what students have learned are only bits of this and that. There is no focus on their study. Also, there are many graduates of BSBA major in Management and related courses in different schools (maglagay ng citation), so the graduates of this course should be able to

develop their competencies. And the university plays a vital role in developing the skills and knowledge needed by the students to become more employable.

Statement of the Problem This study focuses on finding the answer to the problem How effective is the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Management program of Bulacan State University-Malolos in making its graduates employable? In connection with this, this study sought to answer the following sub questions: 1. What is Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major Management? 2. How are the students employability skills developed in the University? 3. What are the skills needed by BSBA-Management graduates to be employed? 4. What is the employment status of BSBA management graduates in BSU? 5. What are the common reasons why BSBA Major in management graduates in BSU are employed and unemployed? 6. What are the usual employments of BSBA major in Management Graduates of Bulacan State University-Malolos? Objectives: To determine how effective is the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Management of Bulacan State University in making its graduates employable.

To define Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major Management. To define employability. To determine the skills needed of a BSBA Management graduates to be employed. To determine the rate of BSBA Management in BSU- Malolos when it comes to the employment of its graduates. To find out the reasons how BSBA Management graduates become employed or not. To determine the usual employment of BSBA Management graduates of BSUMalolos

Significance of the Study

To the students:

The study will give the students the path to make their expectations before taking the program BSBA Management meets reality. This is through acquiring

all the skills and knowledge they need to be employed in their dream job. It is nicer to work if your position is there. This study is a way to make the students of BSBA Management in BSU- Malolos eligible to work in their position.

To the College of Business Administration

Through this study, the faculty of College of Business Administration will be aware of what really are the skills needed by the students in order to deserve being employed after they finished the degree. After conducting the study, the professor can assure that all the lessons and activities that they will be teaching to their students, more than relevant, are applicable to their to the future jobs of the students which are in line to their course. the study will give the professors of BSBA major in Management in BSU more knowledge in enhancing their teaching methods in a way that they will know where they are lacking through the evaluation of performance of their past students.

Scope and Delimitation The study is focused on the effectiveness of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Management of Bulacan StateUniversity-Malolos to determine the employability of its graduates. This is conducted in the school year 2012-2013. The researchers will conduct an online survey and interview on the graduates of BSBA major in Management of Bulacan State University from year 2010 to 2012. The respondents of this study consist of 20% of the population and are randomly selected. (Unemployment will be discussed, but the study is more focused on employment. On-the-job training of the students will be given attention, but will be briefly discussed. )
