STAAR Tutor (NCLB HQ) Non-Exempt Campus Director As Assigned

Position Summary: STAAR Tutor will prepare, educate, and coach students in a Responsive Education Solutions (ResponsiveEd) school for the State Mandate (STAAR) Tests in the area of the following: 3rd grade Mathematics and Reading, 4th grade Mathematics, Reading and Writing, and 5th grade Mathematics, Reading and Science. STAAR Tutor Works with parents and students to provide and implement individualized education to meet the needs of all students. Qualifications:

Education/Certification Must be No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Highly Qualified (HQ) with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (B.A.or B.S.) from four-year accredited College or University. In addition to the four degree one of the following must also be met for HQ status: (1) Texas State Teachers Certification in Elementary EC-6; (2) passing score on an ExCET/TExES core academic area examination. Experience Must meet NCLB Highly Qualified requirements (see above). Teaching experience in a Public School is preferred. Teachers Certification EC-6 Generalist required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Must have a passion for children. Must have the ability and patience to work interactively with children. Must have strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to understand the individual needs of each student. Must have a clear understanding of goal setting for students. Must have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Must have the ability to communicate with all levels of students, their parents, the administrative staff, and Campus Directors. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Must have the ability to travel to local area schools. Preferred KSAs General knowledge of curriculum and instruction preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties: STAAR Tutor will help students become familiar with the STAAR Test. o How it is formatted o How long you have to finish each portion o When you can expect to take each part of the assessment o Unique aspects of the STAAR test

STAAR Tutor will give students and parents stress reducing techniques. STAAR Tutor will allocate time and resources to areas the student(s) are struggling. STAAR Tutor will advise students and parents for the night before and test day. o Understanding the phases of the assessment and how to complete it within the time allotted. o How to avoid burnout o How to relax STAAR Tutor will perform tutorials, during and after normal business hours, which may include, but is not limited to, Saturday Tutorials. STAAR Tutor will travel to local schools as required.
